Cambodia is a destination fillded with history. Today, that history is the main draw for Cambodia holidays to country, with tourism playing a key role in the country’ s ongoing rebirth and renewal.

The fantastic ruins of Angkor are a must-see on any Cambodia tour, with sunrise at Angkor Wat being a “wish list” experience for many. However, there are hundreds of ruins to discover at Angkor without the crowds, with many structures beautifully entangled (缠绕) in roots and branches, as the jungle takes back the land.

Siem Reap, one of Cambodia’s biggest cities, is the gateway to Angkor and also has its own attractions in busy markets packed with local artworks, wooden carvings and Khmer textiles.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital, is a lively metropolis (大都会) of traditional markets, modern developments and French colonial architecture. Trips to the Royal Palace and its Silver Pagoda, as well as the National Museum, offer striking Khmer architecture and exploration of Cambodian culture.

Outside of the cities, Cambodia has many beaches, rivers and islands. On the south coast, the beach destinations of Sihanoukville and Kep provide seaside escapes and fresh seafood, with the sleepy riverside town of Kampot (home of Kampot pepper) and the idyllic(田园诗般的) island paradise of Koh Rong nearby. Or, take a trip to the gentle and quiet Mekong riverside, Kratie, which is the best place to visit in Cambodia to see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy dolphins.

If you prefer to get off the routine path, Kampong Thom in northeast Cambodia owns remote sites of ancient temple cities, busy markets and delicious Khmer cuisine.

Remember you said you’d like to come over to the UK sometime this year? Well, I was thinking that this year you might like to come to the Edinburgh Festival with me in August. I’ve got an aunt with a flat in the city center who could put us up.

Do you know much about the festival? It’s very famous — the biggest, most popular arts festival in the world! There are lots of things going on — art exhibitions, concerts of all kinds, modern dance, a book festival, etc. The thing it’s most famous for is the newest and most exciting theatre. People come from all over the world and perform in their own languages.

In Scotland you have the best of both worlds: culture and wild land. After the festival, we could hire a car and go up to some of the islands off the west coast, like Skye. The weather can be changeable in August, but the landscape is beautiful, with empty beaches and rocky mountains. It’s the perfect place for you to take photos. Afterwards, we could head back to the east coast and visit my friend Rob in St. Andrews. It’s really pretty and Rob’s enjoyable to be with. You’d get on well with him.

A factory tour this summer! Here are some great ones to consider.

At this working factory, guests can watch the process of making this famous candy. Have lunch at the Visitor Center Cafe, where you can order a jelly bean-shaped pizza or hamburger! There’s no entrance ticket for the 40-minute walking tour. Tours are given most days from 9: 00 am to 4: 00 pm, but come during a weekday to see the candy making in process.

See how each bat (球棒) is carefully produced at this family-favorite factory tour. Tour visitors leave with a specially designed bat souvenir and personalized bats can be ordered when you arrive and picked up before you leave. Adult tickets are $9. Child tickets are $4. Ages five and under are free. It opens at 9: 00 am Mondays through Saturdays. Check the website for specific days and times.

Take this walking tour of a plant in Florida and see for yourself the technology and skill required to build these emergency vehicles. Tours are offered Monday to Friday, at 9: 00 am and 11: 00 am.
