A few months ago I left my hometown for Canada to study. I felt nervous because I was going to 【小题1】new place and stayed with new people. What worried me at first was that I couldn’t speak English 【小题2】(fluent), and I also couldn’t understand 【小题3】(they) customs. Everything was different 【小题4】my own country. I had to deal with everything alone. 

It was a sad moment 【小题5】 I had to say goodbye to my family and friends at the airport. However, I knew studying abroad was a 【小题8】(decide) that I made myself. I had to accept the challenge. 

By now I 【小题9】(get) used to the new life here already, though I’m looking forward to 【小题10】(spend) the coming vacation with my old friends back home.

With the recent relaxation in travel restrictions, I found myself 【小题1】 (visit) Innsbruck, the capital city of the state of Tyrol in Western Austria.

The destination within 【小题2】 (snow-cap) mountains is perfect for a short break. Even the approach to Innsbruck Airport by air is a breathtaking sight as the plane 【小题3】 (gentle) moves between the mountains on its journey to the runway.

The city is like an artistic 【小题4】 (compose) of modern architecture and historic buildings, serving both 【小题5】 a university town and a tourist center. Weaving my way through cobbled streets and well-designed buildings, I was impressed by this stunning city which was the Imperial capital 500 years ago, 【小题6】 the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I lived here. Admitted, it still lives up to 【小题7】 (it) royal connections today with the unique architecture.

I wandered round this small city, amazed at the dramatic backdrop of the Nordkette mountain which offers skiing and hiking near the downtown. The Goldenes Dachl, 【小题8】 significant landmark in Innsbruck with its 2,657 golden copper tiles (瓦片) that shine in the sunlight, took my breath away.

Innsbruck 【小题9】 (steal) my heart with the stunning architecture, majestic mountains and friendly people on this tour then and there. I couldn’t wait to return to explore more of this 【小题10】 (delight) European city.

A blind Chinese climber reached the summit of Qomolangma (known in the West as Mount Everest) on Monday morning, 【小题1】 (become) the first blind person from Asia ever to conquer the world's highest peak.

Zhang Hong, 46, reached the top from the Nepali side, along with three high-altitude 【小题2】 (guide). Jaya Bahadur Tamang, 【小题3】official from Asian Trekking Company, mentioned that Zhang and his team reached the summit at 9 a.m. on Monday. “Zhang is among the few climbers 【小题4】dared to go to the top of Qomolangma despite strong winds,” he added.

Zhang, born in Chongqing, 【小题5】 (lose) his sight due to glaucoma (青光眼) at the age of 21. He now works at a hospital in Lhasa. As Zhang began to climb down from the summit, which is 8,848.86 meters above sea level, his colleagues were excited to hear about his 【小题6】 (succeed).

“Many people may have doubted him at first, but I was 【小题7】 (confidence) in him from the beginning,” said Kyila, who is also blind.

Zhang had begun preparing 【小题8】the climb since 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all mountaineering expeditions on Qomolangma 【小题9】 (cancel) in Nepal and China last year. And he had to wait until recently 【小题10】 (make) the attempt.
