My fellow Americans, earlier this year I announced my candidacy for president of our house, 347 Elm Street. My goal was simple: unseat my wife—Mommy, who I believed had grown careless in how she handled the affairs of our home.

My qualifications to take this house-hold of three in the right direction were evident. I was and remain the only one in the family who can open pickle jars. I was and remain the only one who can remember the Amazon Prime password. I was and remain the only one who doesn't scream when he sees small bugs. I was and remain the Best Dad—see my coffee cup.

It was a close contest where I pressed my opponent on the hottest topics of the day. On the issue of transportation, I questioned my rival's refusal to make left-hand turns. And on health care, I fought the lonely battle against buying a dog, reminding everyone, “I'm allergic!”.

But tonight, the votes have been cast, the people of this great house have spoken, and I respect their decision. And while I take great pride in how close the election was—two votes to one—it is clear that I will not be your next president As contentious as this campaign has been，it is now time to unite our home around the winner. I call for all my supporters, namely myself, to fall in line to ensure a smooth transition from the previous Mommy administration to the next Mommy administration, which will mark her 21st term in office. Although I will not be serving as your president and commander-in-chief, I will continue to fight for the things that my campaign stood for.

Now, as I prepare to end my campaign and take our new dog for a walk, I thank each and every voter, no matter whom you recklessly voted for. And may God bless 347 Elm Street.

Nowadays, many parents are so busy that they seldom have family meals with their children. But this is wrong.

A Harvard study found that families that eat together are twice as likely to eat their five servings of fruits and vegetables a day as families who don't eat together. Families also eat less fried food when they eat together. Finally, children who regularly eat with family have diets higher in fiber(纤维), calcium(钙), iron, and vitamins(维生素) B6, B12, C and E.

During family meals, parents can set a good example of healthy eating that children may follow. They also display polite table manners. Family meals teach children important skills.

When a family eats together, kids can learn about nutrition(营养) and healthy eating. In many studies of school-aged children, those who eat family meals have a higher level of nutrition knowledge.

When a family eats together, kids learn about food safety, like hand washing before eating.

Children who have company(陪伴) at meals are slimmer than those who eat alone. That's because they eat less, eat more slowly, and talk more. This is a good way to deter obesity(肥胖) in children.

Family meals can help children build vocabulary. Studies showed kids who ate with their families performed better at school and had a broader vocabulary. Family meals offer an opportunity for conversations where kids learn vocabulary—building words to help them read and communicate better.

Children gain a better sense of belonging within the family when they eat together with their parents at home. Family meals offer a time for a family to come together as a group and develop a feeling of belonging. That sense of belonging leads to better self-esteem.

In conclusion, family meals are very important.

When people introduce themselves,I always hear them say "I'm just a housewife".I don't understand why their introduction is always filled with regret and self-pity.Is it,really a crime to be a housewife?Is it really embarrassing when you choose not to work outside and instead choose to work in your home?

How could you be "just a housewife" when the basic social unit of society depends on you and your service?A housewife works for the longest hour,supporting your husband,child studies,caring for elders,managing finances, paying bills,grocery shopping,cooking according to individual taste, cleaning, etc. A housewife could be anyone: daughter,wife,mother,teacher,financial advisor,fashion designer and nurse,gardener,driver,cook,and so on.Don't think you are not being paid for it.You get the reward that no money can offer—the love and affection of your family,their trust for you,a happy home and your own satisfaction.

It is you who choose to be in this occupation,willingly or for any other reason.After a busy day,all wait to return to the comfortable home set by you.They know you will be there to absorb all their stress and tiredness and relax them.Would the life have been the same had you been working outside to earn some money?Would you along with your family have been able to buy all the content in life that you are enjoying now with that money?

Respect yourself for what you are.Introduce yourself to the world with the same dignity.The world understands the importance of your job; it's time to make them accept it. Introduce yourself with pride and with twinkle in your eyes "I am a housewife". Kick that "just" out..
