Alipay(支付宝), attached to the e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, announced in June it would offer its users the option to directly invest with the private Tianhong Fund using spare cash from Alipay accounts. The business is called Yu’ebao.
The past five months have seen this fund blossom, owing to the prosperous Interet e-commerce platform, and the Singles Day shopping spree on November 11 had helped Yu’ebao. In the process of a deal on Taobao, once the buyer pays for the order, his or her money is first accepted by Alipay, then after he or she receives the goods, a final confirmation is made and Alipay then gives the money to the seller. If a buyer forgets to confirm payment, the money is transferred into the seller’s account after 10 days by the system.
The Singles Day had a total volume of 35 billion yuan($5.75 billion) and thus a large amount of money passed through Alipay’s account. Analysts estimated that Alipay may have also bought the fund using the extra income, which powerfully enlarged the scale of Yu’ebao. Profit purchasing investors tend to choose safe financial management tools. The relatively stable yields of Yu’ebao is favored by most customers, the report said.
Chinese e-commerence giant Alibaba allows consumers to invest their spare cash in the money market funds through its Alipay online payment service. The product, called Yu’ebao, or “Leftovers Treasure,” has netted 130 billion yuan so far, making the fund’s management firm, Tianhong Fund, the country’s largest fund management company.
Meanwhile, due to the cooperation with Alipay, the management scale of Tianhong monetary fund has doubled from 55.653 billion yuan at the end of September to over 100 billion yuan. During the Singles Day, the frequency of payment of Alipay and Yu’ebao exceeded 188 million and 16.79 million with total transaction volume at 35 billion yuan and 6 billion yuan.

Buildings with wireless systems will open soon. The laptop project will cost the school about £400,000. Parents are being asked to pay £2 per week for their children’s laptop during their study at the school. Those unable to pay will receive economic aid.
The headmaster, Will Roberts, says parents think it is a “bargain” because it’s expensive to buy a laptop.
“With the help of the laptop, any time they want to learn, they can. Pupils, who are aged between 11and 18, can complete their homework by connecting to the school servers (服务器) from home. And their work can be marked at once and teachers share students’ work away from the classroom,” Mr. Robert says.
Mr. Roberts points out, however, that children will continue to use traditional learning materials.
“There will always be a place for traditional writing and textbooks,” he says. “But we want to prepare our students for the real world.”
The project was started with the help of the government-supported charity, the E-Learning Foundation. It is trying to make information technology more widely used in schools.
Spokesman, Kevin Pay, says using computers improves students’ work speed-“after all, there is no excuse for not having homework”.

Chuquicamata, my host community, is a mining camp. When I arrived there, I was scared. It was so different from what I was used to. There were lots of dogs on the streets, and there was no downtown, few smoothly paved streets, and little to do for entertainment. Rain was not seen very often, earthquakes and windstorms were frequent.
I had studied Spanish for two and a half years and was always one of the best students in my class. But in my first week in Chile I was only able to communicate and needed one person to whom I could explain my shock. I couldn’t speak the thoughts in my head and there were so many.
Most exchange students experience this like me. Culture shock presents itself in everything from increased aggression (敌对心理) towards the people to lack of appetite. I was required to overcome all difficulties.
As time passed, everything changed. I began to forget words in English and to dream in Spanish and love Chilean food. I got used to not depending on expensive things for fun. Fun in Chuquicamata was being with people. And I took math, physics, chemistry, biology, Spanish, art, and philosophy.
But the sacrifices were nothing compared to the gain. I learned how to accept and to succeed in another culture. I now have a deeper understanding of both myself and others.
