Last year, I studied at a British secondary school as an exchange student. There, I made friends with a boy 【小题1】 (name)Paul, a huge fan of the NBA. Paul’s favourite player was Tyrone Bogues, 【小题2】 played for the Charlotte Hornets. Bogues was only 1.6 metres tall, 【小题3】 made him the shortest player ever in the NBA. Paul used Bogues as his inspiration. Paul once said, “Bogues could make it, why not me?”

After a long summer holiday, my new life at senior high school 【小题1】 (begin) at last. I was a little 【小题2】 (anxiety) in the morning, 【小题3】 (worry) that I would not make new friends. I was not outgoing after all. However, things turned 【小题4】 just fine. Both my teachers and classmates made a good 【小题5】 (impress) on me. They were friendly and helpful. Whenever you have to write a paper, a letter, or any other document for work or school, you probably head toward the computer. Now, most people reach for 【小题1】 (keyboard) faster than they pick up pens. In a Scottish primary school, however, Mr. Norman Lewis is taking a different approach. He feels that neat handwriting 【小题2】 (be) still an important skill, so he has his students write not only by hand but also 【小题3】 old fashioned fountain pens.

So far, Mr. Lewis is pleased with the results of his experiment. He reports that his students are taking more care with their work, and their self-confidence has improved as well. He is happy with the 【小题7】 (improve) he sees in his students’ writing 【小题8】 in his own writing. He knows that computers are here 【小题9】 (stay) and that they will not disappear. However, he believes that the practice with fountain pens helps students to focus, to write faster, and they can feel proud of 【小题10】 (they).
