Best Time to Go

Travel between June and August tends to be most popular with visitors. June offers 24 hours of Arctic daylight, while July and August are the warmest months, offering the best chances for good weather. Travel between mid-September and mid-October is the most ideal, as you’ll avoid the high-season tourist traffic and have a solid chance of seeing the northern lights. Although winter weather can shorten your sightseeing, excellent deals can be scored during the off-season.

Transportation

Bargain airfare prices have undercut the major transatlantic(横越大西洋的)players, with Icelandair and Wow Air servicing Keflavík International Airport directly from dozens of major U. S. cities. Car rentals are the most convenient way to explore the island, although mountain roads and general off-roading should be left to experienced guides.

Weather

Travelers should pack for all four seasons no matter the time of year. Summertime can reach levels of T-shirt comfort, while many visitors are surprised to discover that winter temperatures may be milder than America’s northeast. But a beautiful day on the western coast of the island could mean damaging storms in the east. That’s why Icelanders are famous for saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.” Winds can transform the weather there more than a dozen times in a single day.

Know Before You Go

Iceland’s reputation as a budget-friendly destination is very much a thing of the past. Prices have gone up greatly—alcohol and food are particularly expensive. We recommend limiting the amount of time you spend in Reykjavík as it’s always crowded with tourists. Instead, explore the smaller towns and villages along Iceland’s coast.

The Best Music Museums Around the World

Motown Museum (Detroit, Michigan, US)

The “Motown Sound” was born at the label’s first headquarter in downtown Detroit. From 1959 until 1989, the building housed the label’s recording studio and office, along with founder Berry Gordy Jr’s residence upstairs. After Motown moved to Los Angeles, the house was turned into a museum to display all the costumes, photographs and other historic memorabilia(纪念品)of the label’s rich history.

ABBA: The Museum (Stockholm, Sweden)

This highly interactive museum not only records the group’s remarkable career, but puts your ABBA knowledge and musical skills to the test. You can “perform” to be the fifth member of the band in their live karaoke sound booth, and even appear in a music video.

The Beatles Story (Liverpool, UK)

As one of the must-see sights in Liverpool and best music museums the city has to offer, the Beatles Story records the lives, culture and music of The Beatles. Located on the UNESCO World Site waterfront at the Royal Albert Dock, the award-winning museum takes you on an experience through the band’s rise to fame, including original instruments, rare photos and other memorabilia.

Musée Edith Piaf (Paris, France)

Located in a private apartment in the 11th arrondissement (行政区)，the museum contains much of the late singer’s personal items, including clothes, photographs and personal letters. There are no guided tours, and the museum is run by Piaf’s fan and friend, who personally recalls his time with the “Little Sparrow”.

Hersheypark, an amusement park in Hershey, Pennsylvania, has something for everyone. You can have fun riding roller coasters that range from mild to wild. There are also classic family rides, a water park, a zoo, and of course, chocolate.

Now its new section, Hershey’s Chocolatetown, is open! There is Candymonium, the tallest, fastest, longest, and sweetest coaster in the park. It offers a one-of-a-kind experience.
