Sailing solo(单独) across the world’s largest ocean once is enough of an 【小题1】(achieve). But 83-year-old Japanese ocean adventurer Kenichi Horie has done it multiple 【小题2】(time).

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, he set a record by becoming the world’s oldest solo sailor 【小题3】(sail) non-stop across the Pacific Ocean.

【小题4】 (safety) and sound, Horie arrived in the waters off the Kii Peninsula in western Japan at 2:39 a.m. local time, after spending more than two months 【小题5】(cross) the world’s largest body water.

“Don’t let your dreams just stay as dreams. Have a goal and work towards achieving this, 【小题6】 a beautiful life is waiting for you.” Horie said over a satellite phone as he made his way from Shikoku Island towards Wakayama, 【小题7】 final leg of his long journey.

Horie set sail on his 990kg and 19-foot long sailboat - the Suntory Mermaid III from San Francisco, California, on March 27.

He said some parts of he journey 【小题8】(be) challenging, but he checked in with his family every day by calling them on his satellite phone, 【小题9】 put them at ease. “If I didn’t call at least once a day they’d worry,” he added.

Horie made no port calls during his trip and was spotted of Hawaii’s Oahu Island on April 16. He 【小题10】 (successful) arrived in Cape Hinomisaki in western Japan on June 4.

Mi Fu, also known as Mi Fei, was a Chinese painter, poet, and calligrapher born in Taiyuan, Shanxi during the Song dynasty. In painting he gained 【小题1】 (recognize) for his style of painting misty landscapes. This style was considered as the “Mi Fu” style and involved the use of large wet dots of ink 【小题2】 (apply) with a flat brush. His poetry followed the style of Li Bai and his calligraphy that of Wang Xizhi.

He is best known for his calligraphy, 【小题3】 he is regarded as one of the four 【小题4】 (great) calligraphers in the Song dynasty. His style arises from that of calligraphers in earlier dynasties, but with a unique mark 【小题5】 his own.

As 【小题6】 famous calligrapher, Mi Fu was also noted as an eccentric (怪人). At times he【小题7】 (call) “Madman Mi” because he was 【小题8】 (true) crazy about collecting stones. He even declared one stone to be his brother. He would bow to his “brother” rock 【小题9】 (show) the devotion given to older brothers. His son, Mi Youren, was also a famous painter in his father’s artistic style. Unlike his father, Mi Youren lived to be quite elderly, 【小题10】 (die) at the age of 79.
