This winter seemed【小题1】 (long) and colder than previous years as the novel coronavirus (新型冠状病毒) broke out in China. However, people, young and old, from all walks, of life, have all devoted every effort【小题2】fighting the virus.

In order to contain the spread of the deadly disease, most public sites have remained【小题3】(close), including barbershops. In response, a mobile barber stand was quickly set up in Feixi county, Anhui province, China.

Having done enough【小题4】( prepare), three volunteers, wearing masks and using basic tools including scissors, combs and medical alcohol, are acting as mobile barbers, who【小题5】(serve) hundreds of people since Feb 15.

“Many people working in epidemic (传染病) prevention and control have not had their hair cut for more than 20 days, and we wanted to do【小题6】we should do,” said 46-year-old Ge Xianling, one of【小题7】volunteers.

From 2 pm till dusk every day, the team of barbers is【小题8】(busy) visiting neighborhoods in city and countryside areas,【小题9】(give) free haircuts to those at checkpoints for epidemic prevention and control, as well as elderly locals.

“For those who are on duty and can't leave, we go to【小题10】(they) one by one and ask if they need a haircut," Ge said.

After each haircut, they carefully disinfect (消毒) their tools before moving on to the next customer.

Somewhere between the bookstore and the car, I left my favorite winter hat. I like to think someone in need will find it, maybe along with those【小题1】(glove ) which were gone a week or so ago.

Before Zhong’s arrival, there was no clinic in the village. Since Zhong set up the only small clinic (诊所) there with all her life savings at the time, things have changed.

She often makes calls to some with diseases such as high blood pressure. “I need to remind them 【小题6】 (come) to have their blood pressure and blood sugar tested,” she says. If they can’t make it, Zhong will visit them. For the past two years, Zhong 【小题7】 (make) more house calls to her patients so that they needn’t move around during the COVID-19 times.

Thanks to the guidance of Zhong, the local villagers increasingly develop a 【小题8】 (strong) health awareness than before. The number of patients 【小题9】 visit the clinic has been becoming less in recent years. Zhong says, “I’m glad that I’m not only a doctor in the village now. It feels great to be of some help and be trusted 【小题10】 them.”
