Everyone has the inborn ability to understand and enjoy music. Since the beginning, humans 【小题1】(express) themselves through music.

I recently had a chance to experience conversation through music. In 2008, I【小题2】 (travel) to Manila, Philippines to participate in a high school jazz exchange 【小题3】 many students from all over Asia came together to share their talents. Everyone was mixed into different small groups to prepare for a concert at the end of week. Although 【小题4】 people spoke fluent English, everyone seemed to understand each other simply through the music and there were few times where direct translation 【小题5】(need). At the performance, every group played for a live audience. During my group’s performance, I was able to improvise(合奏) with a Korean boy 【小题6】 spoke very little English. But we managed to have a conversation through our instruments. It was 【小题7】 great experience.

The “Top 10 Singers” Competition

Days before the “Top 10 Singers” competition, I was making predictions about who might w【小题1】 (获胜，赢). Everyone was preparing for it. The competitors from my class g【小题2】 (抓住) every chance to practise, and some even composed their own m【小题3】 (音乐，乐曲)!

The great day c【小题4】 (到了). The singers from each class p【小题5】 (表演，演唱) their songs. Some of them were accompanied by a friend on the p【小题6】 (钢琴) or guitar. Most of the songs were in the pop s【小题7】 (风格). Some were adaptations of t【小题8】 (传统的) songs. Some were simple songs w【小题9】 (而) some were rather complicated. The singing was beautiful and two h【小题10】 (小时) was gone before we realized it. Ten students were s【小题11】 (选为) as the top singers of our school, but I think every one of us deserved a p【小题12】 (奖励，奖品) for our efforts.

The competition was extraordinarily s【小题13】 (成功的). It was great fun and we all e【小题14】 (喜欢) it. More importantly, such activities reflected our dreams and our passion and transformed our u【小题15】 (理解) of life.

Anyone can take part in a virtual choir from anywhere—all you need is a video camera and an Internet connection. You do not even need a 【小题1】. A virtual choir helps connect 【小题2】 people together. Many people do not have close friends or contacts 【小题3】 have the same interest in music. Many others do not have the chance to join a local choir. A virtual choir 【小题4】 them to add their voices to those of other 【小题5】 and become part of the global community. It has 【小题6】 to be a positive influence on the lives of many people.
