In many-even most-space-themed films, whenever Earth faces a disaster, the solution is always leaving the planet in spaceships. But the latest Chinese sci-fi movie,“The Wandering Earth”，offers a different idea.

In the film, which is adapted from a short story by Chinese sci-fi writer Liu Cixin, Earth is in danger of being destroyed by the dying Sun. Humans around the world work together to build a huge engine system that will push Earth away from the Sun. Instead of leaving Earth-again-this time we’re taking it with us.

This idea didn't come from nowhere. For thousands of years, Chinese people have had a special emotion at their “homeland” in their hearts and minds. One old saying is “luo ye gui gen", which means returning to one’s homeland in old age, like fallen leaves returning to the roots of their tree. Or look to an ancient poem: “The season called the White Dew ( 白露) begins tonight/Nowhere as in our native place is the moon so bright.” These both show the strong relationship that Chinese people have had with their homeland.

This is probably what sets “The Wandering Earth" apart from Hollywood-style space films. “What is Chinese sci-fi?”Guo Fan. the film’s director, said in an interview. “Films that can really express Our cultural and spiritual core ( 精神核心) can be called Chinese sci-fi. Otherwise, we' re just copying others and telling the same American stories.

And the makers of “The Wandering Earth” may have chosen the best time to tell the Chinese sci-fi story. The film was screened on Feb 5, the first day of Chinese New Year. It was a time when many people had just made the hard journey back to their hometowns. So to them, there is only one possible way to tell the story: Earth goes wherever humans go, because it's our home.

Plays are an important part of British culture. The West End theatre district in London is the best place to watch a professional play, but acting also takes place in every school and village hall and the country.

There are over 2,500 non-professional drama groups in the UK today and they are an active part of community life. People from all walks of life take on acting roles in addition to their regular jobs. They do it for fun, for the love of acting and as a way to meet new people.

Not everyone in a drama club is a skilled actor, but enthusiasm(热情) is considered to be more important than talent. Friends, family members and neighbors enjoy getting together to watch the final performance and tell the people they know to “break a leg(祝演出成功)”. It’s a great way of bringing people together. Also, in many rural（乡村的） parts of Britain, the non-professional theatre is the only chance that people have to see plays for miles around.

Many people get a taste of acting at school. Every school puts on a play at least once per year, usually at Christmas, and parents love coming to watch their children perform. Ask many British persons and they’re sure to have happy memories of being in their school’s Christmas play, whether they played the role of Mary or Joseph or perhaps even a sheep or a monkey.

Another Christmas theatre tradition is the pantomime（童话剧）. Pantomimes are a type of the musical comedy for families. The audience is encouraged to take part in the performance —singing along with music and shouting at the actors. Pantomimes are really fun to watch, especially for children.

British people love going to the theatre, professional or not, and many of them also enjoy performing. If you have the chance, go and see a play in the UK.

There’s an African proverb that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” That’s the line that closes the film The Good Lie and the meaning can be felt throughout the 112 minutes of the movie. In the film, the actors convey the struggle, heartbreak and loss other real-life refugees experienced during the civil war that took place in Sudan in the 1980s and continues today.

The gunslingers(持枪歹徒) destroyed a Sudanese village, killing and fathers and orphaning their children. They appeared again as a group of young boys and their sister walked hundreds of miles, battling nature, hunger and thirst in order to find somewhere far away from their violent homes. They’re even present when a group of refugees get a chance of new life. An ocean away, in a strange land with even strange people.

After burying friends, swimming through rivers filled with dead bodies and surviving in the severe conditions of a Kenyan refugee camp, Mamere (Arnold Oceng), Jeremiah (Ger Duany), Paul (Emmanuel Jal) and Abital (Kuoth Wiel) are given golden ticket to America. But they must again face cruelty, this time at the hands of the US government, as the boys are parted from their sister before their new life can begin, which is even harder to take than the violence you watch the children go through in the beginning of the film and it only serves to show that nothing will come easy for these young men who have their American Dream.

Oceng and Duany are brilliant as Mamere and Jeremiah. In his first American starring role, Oceng perfectly played the role of Mamere who weighs his dreams of going to college and becoming a doctor against his sense of responsibility to his family are great. Duany’s Jeremiah is the spiritual centre of the film, with a desire to help those in the community. His spiritual journey will touch your heart.

But what you absolutely cannot ignore while watching the film is the back-story of the actors themselves. Both Duany and Jal are actual children of war, refugees who experienced many of the same things their characters go through in the film, and Oceng is the son of the refugees. All three are so connected to the history of the story that they can’t help but be real in the emotions they convey. They’re the heart of the film and leave such a lasting impression and gain public praise.
