With the development of traffic, car accidents happen almost every day. I still remember one thing that happened on the road two years ago. It was a fine day. On my way back home, there were a lot of cars coming and going as usual. Suddenly, I was stopped at a traffic light by some people who asked for help. A woman tried her best to give way to an ambulance (救护车), but drove her car over the stony obstacles (障碍) that separated the bike line from the street. Unluckily, she had her car trapped as a result. She could not move the car in any direction. She felt really nervous and did not know how to deal with it.

Luckily, many kind people offered to help her. Some people tried to lift the car back and some people tried to move the stony obstacles. Even the teenagers put down their schoolbags and joined them. But the obstacles were too heavy and high. They failed. Seeing that they could not do much about it, they called the emergency phone numbers. And finally they had no choice but to walk away. The woman alone in the car tried to call for service.

While watching the other people leave and finding she needed some service, I realized that the woman would be on her own and felt helpless. She watched her car and the stony obstacles hopelessly. And at that time, I imagined how painful I would be if I were in that situation. So, I asked her what I could do for her. She appreciated my concern. She said staying with her was fine. She made a call and was told that it would take about 45 minutes for someone to arrive. With a sense of sadness, she said, “How will I spend the boring 45 minutes?” I said to her with smile, “I will stay with you and buy you a cup of tea if you like. ” “It is very kind of you to stay with me,” she smiled at last.

One sunny afternoon, I was playing in the backyard when I noticed a beautiful shiny piece of paper lying on the table. It was leftover aluminum foil (锡纸) from a package my mum had opened. I picked it up and was immediately attracted by its sparkling appearance. Curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn’t help but ask my dad about it.

“Dad, what is this paper called? It’s so shiny and beautiful!” I inquired, holding the aluminum foil up for him to see.

My dad chuckled and replied, “That’s. called aluminum foil, and it has many uses.”

Naturally, my curiosity was piqued (激发), and I eagerly asked, “What can it be used for?”

My dad smiled and said, “Why don’t you research it yourself? It’ll be a great opportunity for you to learn something new. ”

With a sense of excitement, I grabbed my phone and started researching on the Internet. I found out that it is a type of metal paper called aluminum foil, which is moisture-proof(防潮的). As I looked through the information, an idea popped into my head. What if I put some water in a small aluminum foil container and heated it in the microwave? Would the water boil?

Unable to resist the urge to experiment, I cut a piece of aluminum foil and folded it into a small square container. I added some water into the container and placed it in the microwave. With my eyes wide open, I anxiously watched the aluminum foil container, filled with anticipation. But before I could see any changes in the water, suddenly a burst of fire erupted from the microwave, surprising me. I quickly rushed to unplug the appliance and collapsed onto the floor, feeling a great fear.

The other day, I was driving home, a little upset because I hated working at the weekend. On the way, I decided to grab some veggies in the nearby greengrocer’s. Since there was still thin ice on the road, I took a glance at the rear mirror to make sure no pedestrians or vehicles came close, and slowly steered the wheel to the right. Then out of any of my expectancy my car bumped into an electric bike, giving out a harsh metallic clash. I collected myself and saw out of the window screen a boy lean on one side of the bike, one foot off the ground.

All of a sudden, a familiar scene flashed across my mind.

When I was in high school, I had fun riding my bike along the country road on sweltering and boring afternoons during summer holidays. Sometimes I carried my little brother to the only grocery store in the neighborhood where we could buy our favorite ice cream. Once we had an argument about what to buy. Seeing him leave the store in a temper, I jumped on the bike and tried to talk him into going back. Suddenly, he gave me a push and I inclined towards the middle of the road when a motorbike came in my face. I fell on the ground before I could see anything clearly. Luckily, I didn’t get hurt but still couldn’t rise to my feet. The motorist, a middle-aged man, ignoring his torn jeans, shed to check on me, “Are you okay? Your leg? Your foot?”

“I am all right, but...” I stared at him, terrified because I was sure he would ask for “big” sum of money for damage. Instead, he just let me go despite his wife’s protests. Guilty as I was, I was happy that I was spared. I was really grateful to the man for forgiving a silly kid who had made such a big mistake involuntarily.

Seeing the same fright in the boy’s eyes, I quickly got out of my car.

The boy offered to give me some money for the damage.
