An exhibition (展览) at Tsinghua University expressed thanks to collectors 【小题1】 donations helped many people view great works.

A general goal of art collectors is to have their collections shown to as many people as possible, so that the artistic value of people’s creative 【小题2】 (wise) can be both enjoyed 【小题3】 passed down.

In November 1996, an exhibition opened at the National Art Museum of China(NAMOC) in Beijing, showing a number of Western artworks 【小题4】 (donate) by Ludwig and his wife, Irene, earlier that year. 【小题5】 (sad), Ludwig died four months before the show. Since then, the Ludwig collection 【小题6】 (show) at the NAMOC.

Through the exhibition, many people in China have seen works by famous figures of Western art, whom they never heard of or knew only a little through reading books or 【小题7】 (magazine), such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney and so on.

Wu Weishan, director of the NAMOC, says, “During their lifetime, Ludwig and Irene 【小题8】 (they) were fond of collecting arts, so they carried on research and explored the rules of the world through their works.”

He says the NAMOC so far has presented Ludwig’s collection 【小题9】 (include) 89 pieces of modern art at 14 culture venues (场馆) in 1l cities nationwide 【小题10】(carry) on his spirit of sharing further.

Kathrine Switze was a great woman. She wanted【小题1】(finish) a (26.2 mile) marathon and challenge herself. As we all know, before 1967, women were not allowed to run in the race. But Kathrine managed to get an official【小题2】(enter). So Kathrine became the first woman ever【小题3】(compete) in the Boston Marathon.

In fact in the middle of the Boston Marathon, the race director tried to make her stop running. But a friend of hers stopped him from doing so and helped Kathrine finish the race. 【小题4】(final), in 1972, the rules【小题5】(change) to allow women to run in the Boston Marathon.

Kathrine was【小题6】(energy) and continued to participate【小题7】more races, including the New York City Marathon, which she won several years later. Thanks【小题8】her, the Women’s Marathon became an official Olympic sport later.

Her courage and perseverance in completing the first marathon in Boston has made her a role model for women around the world, 【小题9】also encouraged women all around【小题10】world.

Later, Caroline remembered that Beethoven was not the only one 【小题1】 got a surprise. “The audience was shocked as well,” she said 【小题2】a broad smile. “Most of them had no idea 【小题3】 he was deaf! The one person in the room who didn’t hear the symphony—and never would—was the very man who composed it.”
