A major fire on Monday, April 15, 2019, began to burn at France’s world-famous Note-Dame de Paris cathedral (巴黎圣母院). Flames could be seen 【小题1】(rise) through the top of the monument, 【小题2】 tall, narrow spire(尖塔) later collapsed.

The cathedral 【小题3】(date) back to the 12th century. French writer Victor Hugo used it as the setting of his famous story, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. It is one of the world’s 【小题4】(famous) tourist sites, which receives about 12 million 【小题5】(visit) each year.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo wrote on Twitter Monday, “A terrible fire is underway at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.” Hidalgo added that Paris firefighters were still trying 【小题6】(control) the fire. She urged people to stay away 【小题7】 the area.

French President Emmanuel Macron delayed a 【小题8】(plan) speech to the nation because of the fire. 【小题9】 speech was to present his answers to the yellow vest crisis that has taken over the country since November. He arrived at the scene of the fire Monday night.

The cause of the fire was not 【小题10】(immediate) known. France 2 television reported that police were treating it as accidental.

When she had successfully done this, she took the thread out of the needle again and handed both the needle and thread to the judge, saying, “Now it is your turn. I suppose you can drive 【小题9】 car well, and you have no doubts about your eyesight. ”

The judge took the needle and tried to thread it. After half a dozen times, he had still not succeeded. The case against Ms. Mary was dismissed, and 【小题10】(she) record remained unbroken.

Davyon Johnson, an 11-year-old boy, was honored by his community after saving two lives in one day. On Dec. 9, a choking student tripped into the classroom 【小题1】 Davyon was. Davyon did the Heimlich immediately and saved him. Hours later, on his way home, Davyon spotted a house on fire. Everybody 【小题2】 (run) out except for an elderly lady. As the woman struggled 【小题3】 (move) using her walker, Davyon raced up the steps and helped her escape the burning building.
