Taking a holiday doesn’t mean letting go of all the eco-friendly choices. There are many ways you can have a much-deserved break without harming the environment.

Forget planes. While most forms of transport produce carbon dioxide, planes have a massive carbon footprint because of the huge number of miles they travel. 【小题1】 Many of us ignore the endless beautiful scenery around us. There’s the outstanding beauty of the Mississippi River.

Alternatively, you can drive your car to the Grand Canyon to see its splendor.

Pack with care. 【小题2】 All of their bottles, from shampoo and conditioner to body wash and moisturizer (润肤霜), are now made from recycled plastic that can be repurposed again and again so no new plastic is produced. And their iconic soap bars now also come in plastic-free packaging.

【小题3】 Hotels can be huge producers of greenhouse gases. Think about the water that’s wasted and all the buffet food that goes uneaten. So choose an eco-friendly option instead. Camping and a home stay — where you live with a family in their own home — are two of the best options. But if you insist on staying in the hotel, pick one made from sustainable materials. 【小题4】

Buy gifts responsibly. Bringing back gifts for friends and loved ones is part of the fun of a holiday. 【小题5】 Avoid anything plastic, or if it is plastic, make sure it is 100% recyclable, and make sure your friends will love whatever you give them so it isn’t just thrown in the bin headed for landfill.

A.Consider green accommodation.
B.But make sure you choose items carefully.
C.Think about living in an eco-friendly hotel.
D.It’s also acceptable to live in a hotel using new energy.

Naturally, you like things to go well. However, you know that your plans and aspirations don’t always turn out as you’d hoped. That’s because there are numerous factors and unforeseen events that are completely beyond your control. However, not achieving the expected results can upset you. In fact, when demand demands too much of you, you can have a really bad time.

If you’re too demanding with yourself, you’ll be aware of your failures and that you’re unable to achieve what you set out to do. This makes you feel bad. In fact, you blame and punish yourself and feel crushed inside.

This is often caused by imagined situations that don’t even exist. For this reason, you must accept that mistakes are part of everyday life and that not everything will always turn out as you expected.

It makes you uncompromising (不妥协的). This kind of attitude doesn’t lead to anything good. Because you can’t ask anyone for more than they’re capable of giving, nor should you expect others to be what you want them to be.

Too much demand generates stress and anxiety. If you’re self-demanding you constantly seek perfection. Consequently, when you don’t achieve it you feel dissatisfied. This is a poisonous emotion that leads to unhappiness. The origin of this intransigence (disharmony) is generally associated with a problem of self-esteem. In other words, you don’t accept yourself as you are. First, you must learn to respect and love yourself as you are, with all your plus and minus points.

In order to stop demand from becoming a problem, your priorities and aspirations will have to change. Instead of chasing perfection, you need to be aware of your own limitations as well as those of others.

Being a demanding person doesn’t have to become something negative if you know how to manage it and set boundaries for yourself. As a matter of fact, demand can help you achieve goals and meet challenges. This improves your self-esteem. However, you must be aware that, even if you put all your efforts into doing things right, you won’t always get the expected results. Indeed, life isn’t perfect and neither are you.

Some people make it effortless to have a warm conversation with a complete stranger. For the rest of us, however, starting a conversation may require more effort. Here are a few tips of conversational skills.

【小题2】. Figure out the common ground you share. Maybe you’re both sitting in the same corner. Maybe the companions of invitees have temporarily abandoned you. Or perhaps both of you are direct friends of a host, having never met previously.
