I can still remember the afternoon when we climbed the mountain as if it were yesterday.

It was a sunny day. Eager to spend some time outside, I went up the mountain with my uncle. The mountain was hard 【小题1】 (climb) and had tough rocks and streams on it. In the end, exhausted and hot, I couldn’t go any 【小题2】 (far). So we went back down the mountain in the end.

On the way back down, my uncle asked me a question 【小题3】 left me speechless for a second: “What’s your dream, young lady?”

“I have no idea,” I answered 【小题4】 thinking it for a while. Then he smiled and told me about his story. He didn’t perform well at school when he was a student. Although nobody thought he could succeed, he knew clearly 【小题5】 his dream was－to be a businessman. “I knew I wasn’t gifted when it came to studying, 【小题6】 I tried to buy snacks from a market and sell them after class,” he told me. After he left school, he started selling different items to find out which one was most attractive to customers. Of course, he often had no money in his pocket, but however tough life was, he never gave up.

“There is no doubt that a person who puts in a great deal of effort to reach his or her goal will have good luck at some point. The meaning of life is to chase your dream,” he said gently. That night I 【小题7】 hardly fall asleep. I lay in bed tossing and turning, asking myself, “What’s my motivation?”

I once wanted to be a top student, but the hard work needed meant putting everything into following my passion. If I find myself lacking willpower, what should I do? Leaving home early the next morning, I climbed the mountain again by myself. It made me think: 【小题8】 we don’t experience the climb, how can we get to see the scenery on the top of the mountain? In the end, I reached the top and 【小题9】 (fascinate) by the warm breeze and sunshine. 【小题10】 could be more pleasant than that.

There is so much to learn about the interesting history and culture of the United Kingdom. 【小题1】 (study) the history of the country will make your visit much more enjoyable. The capital city London is a great place to start, as it is an ancient port city 【小题2】 has a history dating all the way back to Roman times. There are countless historic sites to explore, and lots of museums with ancient relics from all over the UK. The UK is a 【小题3】 (fascinate) mix of history and modern culture, with both new and old traditions. If you keep your eyes open, you will be surprised to find that you can see both its past and its present.

I’ve always been attracted by the 【小题1】(beautiful) of Chinese culture and its vast history. When we first arrived in China, my friend Tony and I expected a huge city 【小题2】(fill) with modern buildings, busy streets and a crowded transport system. But we were pleasantly surprised.

The first thing 【小题3】struck us was the space. Yes, Beijing is indeed huge, but its wide streets and green spaces made every area feel less crowded. Tian'anmen Square was the perfect example of this.The Forbidden City was 【小题4】 (surprise) clean and well preserved.

Everywhere we looked, there were people 【小题5】(tidy)and cleaning, which really left an【小题6】(impress) of national pride. We 【小题7】(concern) that few people would speak English, even in Beijing. But we found it common for Chinese people to know a few words of English. The most exciting part of our visit was riding around in the sunshine and exploring the city 【小题8】ofo bikes.

It was great 【小题9】(experience) Beijing’s landmarks in person after admiring 【小题10】(they) for so many years. This was our first visit to China, but certainly not our last.
