On a Saturday afternoon, you find most kids outside playing games. Kids are made for the _______, with their endless energy and the easy way in which they make friends. It’s not _______ for Kameron, an ordinary, fun-loving 7-year-old girl who loves to draw out the world’s longest hopscotch(跳格子) on the sidewalk. But in between _______, Kameron takes time to do something special for her _______ neighbors whose children have long since left home.

Kameron first started waving to them. Most of them smiled back. Then Kameron decided that some of them needed a little _______. So she ran home, took her violin and made the rounds. “Can I play you a song?” she asked, after knocking on the door.

Gustav smiled wide. His wife Vivian, who has had muscular dystrophy(肌肉萎缩) for over 20 years, stood _______, and had difficulty moving about. It looked terribly uncomfortable. They’ve _______ their daily walks with afternoon drives, but even those are getting too difficult for Vivian.

Gustav let Kameron in, and Vivian _______ both arms of her chair and pulled to it. On the table beside her was a photo of her with Gustav when they were young and energetic. “Want me to play your favorite song?” Kameron asked. “Of course,” Gustav answered. It was the only song Kameron knew.

The volunteer work is tiring, but so many people ______ give their time — because the children need us. These children have mental disabilities. Some have severe physical handicaps (缺陷). ______ can strengthen their muscles and bones, enabling them to ______ a more fruitful life.

I once volunteered on many levels and in many organizations. ______, an accident changed my life as I______ serious head injury. The journey back has been painful. I ______ to accept the awful reality. But later I discovered I needed to do something that I have a ______ for. I’d loved horses from childhood, and working with them and with the children has  helped turn my life around.

That day, as I walked beside the horses and those angelic children smiled at me, my ______ was filled with happiness. Despite the terrible weather, I was warm from the inside out.

We climbed Mount Kinabalu the other day. It was our first _________ to Sabah. It was a slow drive along country roads as we _________ Ranau. Ranau was a picturesque mountainside town where people _________ vegetables and fruit. At almost 5,000 feet above sea level, the air was _________ cool.
