I’m glad I got to attend PRSSA’s (Public Relations Student Society of America) National Conference in Philadelphia this year because it gave me the opportunity to get advice and insight (见解) from industry professionals. Newhouse (American publisher) brings in great speakers, but I don’t always get the chance to go to the ones I want because of classes and other schedule conflicts (日程冲突). Having five days to focus only on developing my public relations knowledge base was great.

One of the sessions (会议) I enjoyed the most was about food PR. The speaker was very enthusiastic and gave helpful information on her day-to-day responsibilities and on the importance of choosing the person you want to work for, not just the job position.

Attending the different sessions also gave me insight on areas that I might not want to work in. The session on entertainment and public relations showed me that I do not have enough interest in the latest television shows and pop culture to work in the entertainment industry. All of the reality stars and movies everyone was talking about were beyond me.

Attending conferences also allowed our own PRSSA members to get to know each other better and become friends outside of meetings and work. We have a sort of PRSSA family environment where we always try to help each other.

To sum up, if you ever get the chance to attend a PR conference, whether regional or national, be sure to take the opportunity to do so. Conveniently, Syracuse University will be hosting a regional PRSSA conference on March 1-2 this coming spring. Don’t miss it!

Do high school grades matter? In most cases yes, especially when you are applying to a good college after high school. 【小题1】?

Turn your homework into a pleasant routine. 【小题2】, but if you do it at a clean and pleasant place that you like, it’ll be less exhausting. Besides, you can get into a habit of doing your homework at the same time every day. For example, you may come home, relax for half an hour, and then start your homework. Or you may have more energy to do homework in the evening. Decide for yourself which time works best for you.

【小题3】. If you feel that you’re lost in some subjects, you can talk with your teacher. They can always give you some advice on how to broaden your mind. Also, you can ask your parents for help. They can either get you a private teacher or send you to a training class. This will allow you to spend your time more wisely on difficult things.

Break down your study materials into small pieces. 【小题4】, don’t leave everything for the last day. Start studying as early as possible and process a small part of information every day for one hour or so. Have a rest on a final night before the exam, so your brain will process the information while you are sleeping. This will make sure that you will get your grades up fast in high school.

These methods can go a long way into helping you become more focused on your work towards improving your grades. 【小题5】. And you’ll soon make great progress.

In a busy world, it can often be hard to fit in time to learn anything that isn’t essential. Here are some tips for developing the habit of lifelong learning.

Always have a book. It doesn’t matter if it takes you a year or a week to read a book. Just by setting aside a few minutes in-between activities in your day, you can read a book per week. 【小题1】

Keep a “to-learn” list. We all have to-do lists. These are the tasks we need to accomplish. Try to also have a “to-learn” list. 【小题2】 Maybe you would like to take up a new language, learn a skill or read the works of Shakespeare. Whatever motivates you, write it down.

Get more intellectual (善思考的) friends. 【小题3】 Not just people who are smart, but people who actually spend much of their time in learning new skills. Their habits will pass to you. Even better, they will probably share some of their knowledge with you.

【小题4】 Lifelong learning doesn’t mean a pile of dusty textbooks. Join organizations that teach skills. Group learning can make educating yourself a fun, social experience.

Make learning a priority. Few outside forces are going to persuade you to learn. 【小题5】 Once you decide you want to make lifelong learning a habit, it is up to you to make it a priority in your life.
