Growing up in Scotland’s largest city, Eilidh Malcolm had never really considered a career in forestry. _______, she first choose for a life in rather damp surroundings. But after helping to establish Sea Life Loch Lomond, a career in the wood s soon came _______ the former aquarist (水产养殖者).

“I started to realize I was passionate about _______,   getting people outdoors and into the natural world, _______ for those who are living in urban areas,” the Glasgow native said.

Now based in and around her home city, Eilidh is _______ to working with those who have less opportunity to engage with nature. She said, “I think the last few years have really brought home for many people a _______ of the importance of getting outside for our health and wellbeing. You can see that people _______ it even more because of restrictions in recent years’ pandemic (流行病). That’s even more terrible in our cities, and we have to _______ that, no matter where you grow up, you have access to woodland and forests. We are lucky in Scotland that even in big cities there are green _______ close by for people to take advantage of. I love being able to bring people together and get them ________ about taking care of our forests in Scotland—it’s really energising.”

Working on the new Junior Forester Award has been a stand-out recent ________ for Eilidh. It gives children and young people some ________ into a career in forestry as well as the ________ ability to assist in woodland management in their schools and local communities.

She added, “The award is another way to ________ transferable skills in young people, and even if they don’t go into forestry as a career, they will always have knowledge about ________ the natural world.”

I enjoy working in the wild. As a nature_________, I have to brave the elements- whether it’s sunny, windy or rainy. But the best thing about this job is that you can_________animals in their natural environment.

My favourite place to take photos is Finnish National Park. It is famous for the_________of its wildlife, but probably best known for its bears. These huge animals can live for 30 years._________a weight of up to 300 kilograms, they can still run at a speed of around 64 kilometers per hour.

Last spring in Finland, I followed a path leading to a dark forest. As I finally stepped out of the trees, the view was_________. An eagle flew over the snow-capped mountains, which were_________in the: peaceful lake below. I was photographing the amazing scene when I suddenly had a(n)_________that I was being watched. Slowly, and with the camera still held to my eye, I turned ... and_________. Only meters away from me was a bear. With water_________its thick, brown hair, the bear stared back at me. Time stood__________as the bear and I both waited to see who would move first. My legs started shaking.__________, I forced my finger to press the button. A second later, the bear turned and ran back into the forest. When__________from the shock, I looked at my camera. My most frightening but magical experience was now__________forever in a single image.

From time to time I look at the photo as a constant__________to show respect to all animals. It is after all we who are the__________to their world.

One day last summer, my 9-year-old son Ben and I were riding the waves at a popular ocean beach on outer Cape Cod. As we were playing happily with our surfboard, I suddenly noticed an astonishing _________—some whales were spouting (喷水) well within view of where we _________.

We stared and pointed in _________. “Ben, can you believe it?” I cried. “We’re swimming with the whales!” “Mom,” Ben said in reply, “we’re _________ swimming with the whales. This is their habitat, not ours!”

Ben’s words took my breath away, more than the dramatic waves and the amazing sight of the _________.

He was absolutely _________, of course. These whales live in the waters off Cape Cod. This is their _________—one that we visit, love and protect. So when we set foot into a _________ space, it’s meaningful and important to _________ that we are visiting something that is beautiful and enjoyable to us, but is not __________ for us.

We each have a part to play in __________ space. When we acknowledge our coexistence, as Ben __________, we set ourselves up for success in how we interact with each other. This is as __________ in the vastness of the ocean as it is in our __________ where we live, work, play and serve.

How we __________ and support each other in this vast ocean of life—that’s up to us.
