In China’s northwestern Xinjiang, there are many different landscapes and remarkable views. Deep in its northern dense forest, there is an 【小题1】 (amazing) beautiful lake. The color of the lake changes with the season, light, and temperature difference between morning and evening.

Whales have been facing serious danger for a long time.

First, due 【小题1】 the greenhouse effect, glaciers are melting, and some living creatures in the Antarctic and the Arctic are in danger of 【小题2】 (extinct). Besides, with global warming becoming worse, life in other parts of the ocean has also been 【小题3】 (constant) affected, including whales.

Secondly, whaling activity is another killer. Historically, whaling has been popular in some overseas countries, such as England, Japan and Norway. 【小题4】 (regard) whales as a money-making machine is the reason why some people’s whaling can’t 【小题5】 (stop) easily. A kilogram of whale meat can fetch about $100 in Japan. Besides, advanced technology has increased the efficiency of whaling, 【小题6】 greatly reduced the number of whales. The fact that whales have become endangered animals is alarming us. Some 【小题8】 (organization) have realized the importance of saving them and have begun working hard to do something for them. The Amazon rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world, which plays【小题1】significant role in maintaining the fine balance of the Earth's ecosystem. It crosses into eight 【小题2】 (country) and covers an area of around 6 million square kilometres. The Amazon River, from which the rainforest gets 【小题3】 (it) name, supports many different ecosystems on its journey. They give this area the【小题4】 (rich) biodiversity on the Earth. Of the 390,000 plant species known to us, more than 40,000 can 【小题5】 (find) in the Amazon. Each level of the forest forms its own little world, home to different kinds of 【小题6】 (live) things.
