The world has many interesting and special cultures. One of them 【小题1】 (be) the Bajo people of Southeast Asia.

Their strong diving abilities have been introduced and recognized in many books. It’s said that they can hold their 【小题2】 (breathe) for up to 5 minutes while trying to catch fish. This group of people, known in the west【小题3】 sea gypsies (吉普赛人), have always attracted others. For hundreds of years, they have lived in houses 【小题4】 (build) above the sea water.

A 【小题5】 (tradition) Bajo house sits on top of poles (杆) sticking out from the sea. Usually, 【小题6】 roof of the house is made of dried leaves and branches, 【小题7】 can be packed up and carried by boat when the family moves to another site. These people 【小题8】 (survive) by fishing off the coast up till now. They’re known to live on boats, with many of them 【小题9】 (spend) their entire lives at sea. Even though there are still some Bajo people who live on tiny boats at sea, many of the modern ones are 【小题10】 (wide) found in coastal areas, especially in the Philippines

One place that has left a lasting 【小题1】 (impress) on me is the island of Lesvos in Greece, I went there for 【小题2】 holiday with some of my friends. We felt that we deserved a bit of sun and a chance 【小题3】 (relax) after having studied so hard.

Strangely enough, even though I went there for a well-earned rest. I 【小题4】 (actual) worked harder than I had ever done before. Instead of spending my days on the beach sunbathing and swimming in the sea, I ended up 【小题5】 (help) the locals deal with the endless arrival of refugees (难民), many of 【小题6】 were struggling to get to the beach after their boats had turned over.

Anyway, this holiday turned out to be one of the most 【小题7】 (forget) of my life, but for all the wrong reasons. Often, when I’m alone these days, I 【小题8】 (disturb) by the memories of the faces of parents who couldn’t find their children, and the sound of people screaming 【小题9】 help. 【小题10】 the people of Lesvos did to help these people, opening their homes to them and sharing the few possessions they themselves owned, was absolutely amazing. I was completely touched by the generosity of the people of Lesvos.

International Friendship Day is a day when friends show 【小题1】(appreciate) for one another.

In 1919, International Friendship Day 【小题2】(found) by Hallmark. It was intended to be a day for people 【小题3】 (celebrate) their friendship by sending each other cards. By 1940 the market had dried up, and finally, it died out completely. In April 2011, the United Nations 【小题4】(official) recognized 30th July as International Friendship Day, although most countries still celebrate it 【小题5】 the first Sunday of August!

On International Friendship Day, taking a trip together to celebrate is an excellent way to make the day all about each other. You can visit places 【小题6】 you first met or go to wherever you promised each other to go. With so many people 【小题7】(live) such busy lives, however, not everyone can plan a big day out for each other. But that’s what makes International Friendship Day such a 【小题8】(wonder) time. Best friends understand that life often gets in the way, so they won’t be upset if there’s no big celebration in their honor. Moreover, with 【小题9】 rise of social media, we become more 【小题10】(connect) than ever before, so International Friendship Day just gives everyone the chance to get together.
