Janela, a judge for Guinness World Records (GWR), says it was the most fun he’s had since joining the GWR organization in 2009. As a judge, Janela has traveled the globe____ record- setting events. He has dealt with everything______ the largest number of people making     sandwiches at the same time.

Each year, Janela judges between 15 and 20 __________. Of course, Janela’s job isn’t all ______ and games. “To become a Guinness World Records____, I had to receive several months of ______ and take tests,” he says. “To do well in this role, you need a real depth of _________ - from food to sports - because you can___ anything.

Then there’s the record tracking. There are more than 50,000 Guinness World Records entries in the organization’s database. Each week, more than 1,000___ are received from people ____to break an exciting record or establish a new world record category.

As the U.S. content manager for GWR, Janela works with a team of 10_____researching records, establishing rules for new records and organizing record categories.

As_____as it can be to see new world records set, the biggest_____to Janela’s job is being factual and fair.

“Sometimes it’s_____to see a person or group trying hard to break a record but not coming close,” he says. “But remaining_____is always our No. 1 goal in record keeping.”

It was the district sports meet. My foot still hadn’t healed from a(n) ________ injury.

I had ________ whether or not I should attend the meet. But there I was, ________ for the 3,000-   meter run.

“Ready … set … ” The gun popped and we were off. The other girls rushed ahead of me. I felt________ as I fell father and father behind.

“Hooray!” shouted the crowd. It was the loudest cheer I had ever heard at a meet. The first-place runner was two laps ahead of me when she crossed the finish line.

“Maybe I should ________,” I thought as I moved on. ________, I decided to keep going. During the last two laps, I ran________ and decided not to ________ in track next year. It wouldn’t be worth it, ________ my foot did heal.

When I finished, I heard a cheer louder than the one I’d heard earlier. I turned around and________ enough, the boys were preparing for their race. “They must cheering for the boys.”

I was leaving ________ several girls came up to me. “Wow,   you’ve got courage!” One of them told me.

“Courage? I just ________ a race!” I thought.

“I would have given up on the first lap,” said another girl. “We were cheering for you. Did you hear us?”

Suddenly I regained hope. I decided to ________ track next year. I realized strength and courage aren’t always measured in medals and victories, but in the ________ we overcome. The strongest     people are not always the people who win, ________ the people who don’t give up when they lose.

The title of “Aaron’s younger brother” was earned when I had won the second place in my first tennis tournament at the age of six. Whenever I ________ onto a tennis court, it was as though a gluey name label, which had been ________ stuck onto me.

I wanted to ________ Aaron, my older brother, whose fame had reduced me to a ________ tennis player. Then came a big tennis match against Aaron. As I shook Aaron’s hand at the start of the match, I stared at him and focused on how this match was going to ________ everything.

The tennis court seemed to stretch out further than usual, but I could still ________ the confident look on Aaron’s face. He knew that my honor ________ in comparison to his. Finally, we were down to the last set, neck and neck in points. That was when the setting sun cast his figure over me, ________ me that I would always be walking in his ________ if I did not prove myself.

I prepared myself for the finishing blow, ________ of Aaron’s past matches flooding through my mind as I ________ the weakness of his smash (扣球) the ball would always fly towards the left of the court. I extended my arm to the left in anticipation of where the ball was going to land. The ball made ________ with my racket and was lobbed over Aaron’s head successfully. He could do nothing but ________ his undefeated status as champion being removed by his younger brother.

While I was still enjoying the unfamiliar feeling of ________ minutes after the match was over, a man, whom I vaguely recognized from a ________ tennis club, approached me. “What is your name, son?” he asked. A smile spread across my face.
