It may seem hard to leave Sydney’s attractions and sights, but when the urge arises to explore beyond the city, many exceptional day trips await travelers.

Scenic World

On a visit to the World heritage-listed Blue Mountains, enjoy clean fresh air and breath-taking landscapes of ancient rainforests. Scenic World in Katoomba is the best way to access the beauty of this region. Besides climbing, you can choose cablecars, elevated boardwalks or the Scenic Railway — the world’s steepest train travelling through a rock tunnel, to reach the mountain top.

Featherdale Wildlife Park

Located 45 minutes west of Sydney, Featherdale has the world’s largest collection of Australian native birds, mammals (哺乳动物) and reptiles (爬行动物). Situated in a bushland environment, Featherdale provides a unique opportunity for up-close animal interactions (交往). Hand-feed a kangaroo, have breakfast with a koala and check out a huge variety of species including dingos, emus, penguins and more.

Royal National Park

Established in 1879, the Royal is the world’s second-oldest national park. Located an hour’s drive south of Sydney, the beaches are unspoilt, crowd-free and great for surfing or swimming. There’s dramatic scenery along the way with a range of unique heritage attractions. Bushwalking, boating, canoeing and fishing are also popular activities.

The Hawkesbury River

An hour north-west of Sydney, the Hawkesbury is one of New South Wales’ best-kept secrets. Experience what this picturesque region of waterways, farmland and national parks has to offer — from waterskiing and bushwalking to horse riding, river cruises and retail therapy.

Good afternoon, and welcome to England. We hope that your visit here will be a pleasant one. Today, I would like to draw your attention to a few of our laws.

The first one is about drinking. Now, you may not buy alcohol in this country if you are under 18 years of age, nor may your friends buy it for you .

Secondly, noise. Enjoy yourselves by all means, but please don’t make unnecessary noise, particularly at night. We ask you to respect other people who may wish to be quiet.

Thirdly, crossing the road. Be careful. The traffic moves on the left side of the road in this country. Use pedestrian crossings and do not take any changes when crossing the road.

My next point is about litter. It is an offence to drop litter in the street. When you have something to throw away, please put in your pocket and take it home, or put in a litter bin.

Finally, as regards smoking, it is against the law to buy cigarettes or tobacco if you are under 16 years of age.

The Secret Side of Southern Gulfs in Türkiye

Türkiye’s southern coast is beautified with vacation spots in villages, beaches, and bays with ancient ruins. So if you’re a traveler keen on trips on the water, here are some spots worth checking out.

Gulf (海湾) of Gökova

Starting from the fishing town of Yalikavak on the northwest tip of the Bodrum Peninsula (半岛), head south to Gümüslük. The 60-mile gulf is home to world-famous Bodrum. East of Bodrum, Orak Island is a good spot for diving. Further east is Cökertme, a fishing village. Continuing further east into the gulf is hidden-away Akbük Limani, a peaceful bay with a beach lapped by blue-green water.

Gulf of Hisarönü

Gulf of Hisarönü to the south of the Gulf of Gökova is bordered by an ageless landscape of rocks, hillsides and collapsed ruins. Across the gulf on its own peninsula is pretty waterfront town Bozburun, known for its honey, fishing and traditional boat builders.

Marmaris to Göcek

Rounding the southern tip of the gulf and sailing a short distance east, you’ll reach the attractive dock (码头) of Bozuk Bükü guarded by the ruins of a castle. The remains of the ancient city of Loryma can also be traced on the slopes (斜坡) surrounding the bay. A short distance east, Serçe Limani is a peaceful bay, while Gerbekse is a similarly secret hideaway with ruins of an ancient church and blue water, only accessible by boat.

Gulf of Fethiye

Backed by mountains and surrounded by thick forest, the Gulf of Fethiye is home to 12 islands and innumerable bays. Fethiye, once the ancient city of Telmessos and now one end of the 335-mile Lycian Way hike, is a busy harbor in its own protected bay. Of those 12 islands, Tersane, is the largest. It’s an attractive spot with a harbor, ruins of former city and goats.
