I was returning home from work because of a call from my mother. Shiv kaka, a 【小题1】(distance) uncle of my mother’s from a small village was going to visit us. Actually, I hadn’t even known of him before. But surprisingly, I 【小题2】(draw) to his simplicity the moment I saw him. I listened to him 【小题3】 great excitement at dinner. He had travelled on a 【小题4】(crowd) train to meet us, 【小题5】 was clearly a long and tiring journey. He told us that his daughter was married, and 【小题6】 one of his sons had set up his own business and the other was a successful doctor. He just owned a piece of land and two cows. Yet he was proud of 【小题7】 fact that he was financially independent. Besides, he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren after his busy farm work. He insisted on giving me some money as a gift before he left. But the most 【小题8】(touch) bit was his words, “Live 【小题9】(simple) and appreciate what you have. This is the key to my happiness.”

We are all taught to aim for higher goals, and then we are buried by endless dreams, which leaves us little time 【小题10】(notice) the small but beautiful things around us. I am grateful to Shiv kaka because he taught me such an important lesson.

Johnny looked through the glass. There lay the snowflake like a lovely little star.

“Twinkle, twinkle, little star!” he sang in 【小题9】 (excite).

The next day Johnny had a good time in the snow, and when he came in, he said, “I love snow and I think snowballs are a great deal 【小题10】 (pretty) than oranges.”

Grandfather and Father are playing chess 【小题1】 Son comes in. The son tells his father that he doesn’t want to go to university, which surprises his father. Father is a lawyer, and intends his son to choose the career as well, because it 【小题2】 (pay) well.

He reminds Father of his decision when Father was his son’s age. At that time, Father chose a career 【小题6】 (suit) his own talents. Grandfather didn’t force Father 【小题7】 (follow) his will and was even proud of Father. Finally, Grandfather asks Son to take his advice 【小题8】 (serious) that he should go to university and play music at the same time. 【小题9】 his opinion, Son can make lots of new friends at university. Father accepts it, 【小题10】(say) “You can make lots of new lawyer friends.”
