I fell in love with Yosemite National Park the first time I saw it, when I was in 【小题1】 high school. My parents took us there for camping. On the way out, I aske them to 【小题2】 while I ran up to E1 Capitan, a huge rock of 3,300 feet straight up. I touched that giant rock and knew immediately I wanted to climb it. That has been my life’ s passion(钟爱) ever since — climbing the rocks and mountains of Yosemite. I ve long made Yosemite my home.

About 15 years ago, I started seeing a lot of waste, like toilet paper, beer cans and empty boxes, around the area. It’s beyond me why visitors started 【小题3】 the place less and treated such a beautiful home-like place this way.

I tried picking up trash myself, but the job was too 【小题4】 . I would spend an hour or two on the job, only to find the area trashed all over again weeks later. Finally, I got so tired of it that I decided something had to change.

As a rock-climbing guide, I knew nothing about organizing any big 【小题5】 . But in 2004, together with some 【小题6】, I set a date for a cleanup. On that day, more than 300 people showed up. Over three days we collected about 6,000 pounds of trash. It was 【小题7】 how much we were able to accomplish. I couldn’t believe the difference we made — the park looked clean!

Each year 【小题8】 come for the cleanup from everywhere. In 2007 alone, 2,945   people picked up 42,330 pounds of trash and covered 132 miles of roadway.

I often hear people complain about their surroundings. If you really want to 【小题9】your environment, I would say the only way is by doing rather than complaining. We need to teach by example. You can affect others by your 【小题10】 . You can’t blame others unless you start with yourself.

When I was 24, I moved to America, 11,000 kilometers away from my homeland. This was tough, especially 【小题1】 an unfamiliar environment. Working from home increased my loneliness, as I 【小题2】 social interactions. However, 【小题3】 a volunteer at a local animal shelter changed everything.

Upon 【小题4】 the shelter, I 【小题5】 to a small, grey and white cat named Luna immediately. Found abandoned and terrified of humans, Luna hid in the corner, shaking. Her lonely green eyes seemed 【小题6】 my own sense of displacement in this foreign land. My task was to slowly gain Luna’s trust and help her adjust, which felt similar to my efforts to adapt to this new place.

As days 【小题7】 weeks, Luna and I developed a bond. The process of feeding her, speaking softly, and the patience required to look after her made this little creature gradually 【小题8】 to me. Her acceptance encouraged me to 【小题9】, make new friends, and become part of the community.

My time at the shelter provided a valuable insight into 【小题10】 in a new country. It is an inspiring experience of bridging gaps of language and culture and a journey of personal growth. From it, I realized the value of time, love, and an open heart in forming meaningful relationships. This journey aided me in finding a sense of belonging in an unfamiliar land.

It was just another 【小题1】 day when I had the idea to spread kindness among my friends. I sent them unusual messages to begin my mission without revealing what I had planned. This was all inspired by my teachers, who always provide kind remarks and show they care.

I noticed a different atmosphere among peers due to the 【小题2】 circumstances around COVID-19. Students were not as motivated as before, with their sense of vigour (精力) to conquer the 【小题3】 exams decreasing.

So I decided that a surprise care package would be a great idea to uplift the mood! While finding inspiration for the card designs, I could not help but wonder how my friends would react to such a surprise gift. After I had finally created the cards, I moved on to the personalised care packages. First, I prepared a list of items that people would find 【小题4】, such as pens with quotes to cheer them up, sweets to energise them when they study, as well as a notebook that they could either use for   【小题5】 purposes, or just to write their emotions. I also included some 【小题6】surprises such as masks or photo books, depending on the person and their preferences.

Next, I had to work out different timings to meet up with each friend at a(n) 【小题7】distance.

The day finally arrived, and my heart was pounding (砰砰地跳). I handed over the first surprise package. My friend was so 【小题8】! We laughed as she told me she had thought I was going to ask her if we could study together and was not at all expecting anything like this.

One by one, I delivered all the surprise packages. They really appreciated what I did and I felt so happy.
