Famous world film festivals and awards
Venice International Film Festival, Venice, Italy
Held yearly from 1932, it’s the world’s oldest film festival. The awards are lion trophies (奖杯) including the Golden Lion and Silver Lion. Chinese director Zhang Yimou has won the Golden Lion twice.
Festival de Cannes, Cannes, France
It’s held yearly from 1946. Held in May in the beautiful French seaside town of Cannes, it celebrates and awards artistic achievement in film. The highest prize is the Golden Palm trophy (金棕榈奖). Chinese filmmaker Chen Kaige won the prize at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival.
Oscar Awards, Hollywood, USA
The first Academy Awards ceremony was held on May 16, 1929, at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood to honor the outstanding film achievements of the 1927/1928 film season.
Winners had been announced three months earlier. However, that was changed in the second ceremony of the Academy Awards in 1930. Since then and during the first decade, the results were given to newspapers for publication at 11 p.m. on the night of the awards. This method was used until the Los Angeles Times announced the winners before the ceremony began. As a result, the Academy has used a sealed envelope to tell the name of the winners since 1941.
The Golden Globe Awards, Los Angeles, USA
It was first held in January, 1944 at the 20th Century Fox Studios in Los Angeles, where the winners in five categories received scrolls. The actual Golden Globe award started in 1946, when the statuette of a “golden globe” was introduced. The list of award categories has grown and changed over the times.

Pitch Music & Arts Festival
After its debut (问世) several years ago, Pitch Music &Arts Festival quickly became one of the most exciting and hotly anticipated events. Held at the foothills of the Grampian Plains, it aims to deliver a distinct blend of sonic soundscapes across three architecturally designed stages.
This year, the festival will be headlined by Gerd Janson, Patrick Mason, French producer I Hate Models, Italian Job Jobse, and Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann. Daniel Avery will do a live set for the first time in Australia, coinciding (同时发生) with the recent10th anniversary of his classic album Drone Logic. KiNK will also be playing a live set.
Other international artists include Chaos in the CBD, Aurora Halal (LIVE), Bailey Ibbs, Sally C, Bambounou and many more. Pitch Music & Arts will also highlight local pioneers, including James who will be playing with Willaris. K, Surusinghe, Bertie, Memphis LK, and many more.
For those looking for a moment of peace, the Pitch Pavilion will appear this year. This place is where festivalgoers can participate in yoga classes and sound baths. For those ready to rough it, you can bring your own tent and set it up in a free camping area.
Pitch allows you to bring up to 24 cans, or one bottle of spirits poured into a plastic bottle. There will be numerous bars on site serving cocktails, mixed drinks and a range of beers.

Welcome To Rockville
July 19-22 at Daytona International Speedway ∣ Ages 14 ＋ Only
It is a four-day hard rock and heavy metal music festival. In November 2021, this festival returned on a new week, November 11-14, at its new home at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Its 10th year brought in a record attendance of 161,000 people, making it the biggest rock festival in America that year.
Tidal Wave Festival
August 12-14 at Hollywood Palladium ∣ Ages 8 ＋ Only
The 3-Day GA Ticket allows admittance for the three days of the Festival and includes: 3 Days of music and beach. It offers unlimited access to all the 30 performances and activities. Low-priced souvenirs, free water refill stations, shaded areas and cell phone charging stations are also available. Free General Admission is offered to children aged 8 but must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.
Boots and Hearts Music Festival
Sept 4-7 at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds ∣ Ages 18 ＋ Only
It is a multi-day country music and camping festival produced by Republic Live Inc. The festival is held annually at the custom-designed festival grounds, Buffs Creek Event Grounds in Ontario, Canada.
