We are all familiar with planes, trains and automobiles, but what about transportation of a more unusual nature?

Trams and trolleybuses, part of Beijing’s public transportation, have experienced several changes in urban development. The earliest tram service in Beijing dates back to 1899. After over a year of preparation, the China Import International Expo (CIIE)kicked off on November 5 in Shanghai. It is the world’s first import-oriented national exhibition and a 【小题1】 event in the history of international trade.

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered the keynote speech at the opening of the six-day event. “Great winds and storms may 【小题2】 a pond but not an ocean.” Xi said, comparing China to a vast sea. “After 5,000 years of rials and tribulations(艰难困苦), China is still here. It also offers a platform for countries to deepen international business cooperation for shared prosperity and progress. The event has attracted a total of 172 countries, regions and international organizations and over 3,600 enterprises to 【小题5】 their unique products and technological achievements. More than 100 new products and technologies debuted(首次亮相) at the CIIE.

Aeromobil, a Slovakian(斯洛伐克的) company which has developed the world’s first “flying car,” showcased a 【小题6】 at the Expo that wowed the crowds. The vehicle, which can transform into flight mode in three minutes， provides the aviation(航空) industry with a promising 【小题7】.Conforming to(符合) automotive safety standards with【小题8】 materials and a hybrid(混合的) electric powertrain(动力系统), the car may allow people to realize the dream of true freedom of movement both in the air and on the road.

In the exhibition area of food and agricultural products, guides from Ghana(加纳), showed the specialities they brought to visitors, saying that Ghana's chocolate is not only delicious, but can stand 【小题9】 high temperatures. The chocolate won’t melt, even if held in hands.

Although the expo itself lasted only six days, the 【小题10】 of the fair would be felt far beyond that limited amount of time. The message is loud and clear. China will not close its door to the world and it will only become more and more open.

Americans have occupied the geographic South Pole continuously since November 1956. The station stands at an elevation of 2,835 meters on Antarctica’s nearly featureless ice sheet, which is about 2,700 meters thick at that location and recorded temperature varies between-13.6℃and-82. 8℃.

The station’s name is in 【小题1】 of Roald Amundsen and Robert F. Scott, who reached the South Pole in 1911 and 1912.

The original Amundsen-Scott Station, built to support the scientific goals of the International Geophysical Year, was begun in November 1956. As interest in polar research increased, a new design and a larger station was 【小题2】 necessary.

Before November 1956, there was no permanent artificial structure at the pole, and 【小题3】 no human presence in the interior of Antarctica. The few scientific stations in Antarctica were near its coast.

Astronomy and astrophysics have flourished in recent years, taking advantage of excellent properties of the atmosphere.
