Benjamin Franklin said that, “If you want something done, ask a busy person.” That's how Manny Abreu ________.

Throughout his four years at Kellenberg Memorial High School in the US, Abreu made community service an important part of his ________.

“I don't know where he finds the ________ to do everything,” said Erin Ronan, Abreu's math teacher. “He's truly an outstanding student.”

As an honors student, Abreu, 18, ________ different volunteer activities after school, during weekends and summer holidays. These ________ helping staff at the public library, do landscape work at Kellenberg and ________ customers at a local restaurant.

Because he was ________ with a limited number of hours in a day, Abreu ________ his library job last summer to start working as an emergency ________ technician-a role that ________ his passion for making a(n)________ in other people's lives.

“My appreciation for service has guided me into ________,” said Abreu, who is setting his mind on becoming a doctor. “It's such a(n)________ feeling to help someone.”

During his years at high school, Abreu ________ between 40 and 50 hours of his time each year to volunteer work-more than double the school's annual ________ of 20 hours. For all his hard work, Abreu was welcomed into a leadership club that ________ fellow students' volunteer activities.

Abreu thanked his parents for ________ him to do the right thing, saying they are “the most ________ people I know”. He remembered that when he was about 6 years old, his mother invited a ________ neighborhood boy to have dinner.

Upon observing the boy's happiness, Abreu began to have a sense of how he wanted to live his own life—“I won't only focus on my own ________. I will help as many people as I can,” he said.

Jeremy Locke, 25, has his own roofing company in Bridgeport, Nova Scotia. For a couple of years before he began his _______, he would drive past the home of Jeanette MacDonald, noticing the _______ state of her roof. He was _______ —not just for the elderly woman but also for the children living with her. So Locke _______ to lend a helping hand.

The young man knocked on MacDonald's door and _______ to fix her roof for nothing, "I didn't know who the woman was, but I wanted to _______ this for her and her grandchildren," he explained to The Chronicle Herald. However, despite his kind _______ , the woman politely turned him down.

MacDonald and her _______ left an impression on Locke. He saw _______ between the woman and his own grandmother, and couldn't bear to see her in this ________ . He had also grown up without much and felt that he should use his skills to ________ .

A year after Locke set up his own roofing company, seeing that the roof was ________ in a state of disrepair, Locke returned to MacDonald's home and asked MacDonald if she wanted to enter a raffle (抽奖) his company was doing for a ________ roof. The 70-year-old woman ________ the chance, but little did she know that there was no ________ .

MacDonald's relief ________ Locke's kindness is immeasurable, "I could win $1 million but it wouldn't make me as ________ as knowing I'm getting a new roof on. Jeremy is ________something. He's a guardian angel (守护天使) sent from God."
