Kyrgyzstan(吉尔吉斯斯坦) is a mountainous country where nearly two thirds of the people live in rural areas. The UN notes that the local economy depends 【小题1】(heavy)on farming. So it is rare for any Kyrgyz to choose technology 【小题2】 a career path.

The UN Development Programme studied records about the country’s college 【小题3】(graduate)in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, construction and manufacturing. It found that women make up less than 10 percent of those graduates.

Nineteen-year-old Alina Anisimova, 【小题4】 is a computer programmer, says some girls don’t have the courage to take on such studies because it is not common in their country. And, she also says a majority of parents discourage their daughters from 【小题5】(study)these subjects. Girls in her country are expected 【小题6】 (marry) instead of having careers. Nearly one in 10 girls in Kyrgyzstan is married before the age of 18, notes the international aid group Girls Not Brides. She wishes that in the future people will not consider it so 【小题7】(surprise)to see young women get involved in engineering and metal working.

Actually, the number of women in science, technology, engineering and math areas 【小题8】 (increase)in recent years. For example, in the US, there has been a push to get more girls interested in such subjects at 【小题9】 early age. Still, the UN’s cultural agency UNESCO notes that only about 30 percent of the world’s researchers 【小题10】 (be)women.

Young people work hard to get their qualifications(资格证书). But many workplaces are looking【小题1】soft skills. They concern about things like managing your time, working in a team in different【小题2】(activity) and communicating with others. All of those are included in soft skills. Usually people with these skills can do a good job. Many of these skills are【小题3】(help) in your education as well. You can develop them by learning about the way you think and the way you communicate.

Tim: Jeff, do you prefer working in a group or working alone?

Jeff: I’m good at 【小题1】(work) by myself because if I am doing something I like, I can get it 【小题2】(do) quickly. 【小题3】, if I am working with a team where people all want to do a good job, I think 【小题4】 team is fun.

Tim: Do you prefer working wearing a uniform or putting whatever you want?

Jeff: I think 【小题5】 you wear a uniform, sometimes you get respect.

Tim: So, how about a working schedule? Would you prefer a set time job?

Jeff: No. I think 【小题6】 is difficult to do a set time job. Last year, I 【小题7】(produce) furniture in a factory. Every morning, I had to get up at six. When I got home 【小题8】 work, it was almost eight.

Tim: You 【小题9】 be very tired. By the way, do you prefer being paid by the hour or do you prefer salary?

Jeff: I think salary may be a 【小题10】(good) way to go than being paid by the hour.
