As the saying goes, “Confidence in 【小题1】 (you) is the first step on the road 【小题2】 success.” Confidence plays an important role in our study. With confidence, we can plan our own study. With confidence, we can ask 【小题3】 we don’t know without feeling 【小题4】(embarrass). With confidence, we can be open-minded all the time.

We may gain self-confidence in many ways. Making friends or 【小题5】(exchange) ideas with classmates may be of help. Besides, taking 【小题6】 active part in all kinds of activities and 【小题7】 (compete) requires not only great courage and skill but also self-confidence. We need to have confidence.

【小题8】 , “confidence is a plant of slow growth”. For me, I prefer to offer help to others. This is a chance 【小题9】(understand) others as well as to test what I suppose I know. In our study, we must learn to share, which in turn helps us learn to learn, and 【小题10】(hope), self-confidence is the key!

Do you judge people by their appearance?

This week I was talking to some guys at Planet Fitness, 【小题1】 told me about their boss’ experience of buying a new car. The salesmen didn’t know that this man had a lot of money. It was because he often dressed 【小题2】(he) in worn-out clothes, just like a homeless man on the street. When the boss arrived at the first shop, the salesmen 【小题3】(total) ignored him and treated him like he wasn’t worth their time. He 【小题4】(leave) the shop with a smile on his face. Later that day,he walked into another shop, 【小题5】(wear) the same clothes as usual. The salesmen greeted him with kindness and respect. Then this man paid almost $20 million 【小题6】 new car!

There’s a Bible text that tells us how 【小题7】(treat) people that you learn little about. It says, “Don’t forget to show 【小题8】(warm) to strangers, because anyone who does it may entertain angels without realizing it!” Don’t judge 【小题9】 book by its cover! The boss was not an angel 【小题10】 you never know who just might be.

One day, Nick invited his friends to supper. He was cooking some delicious food in the kitchen. Suddenly, he 【小题1】 (find) that he had run out of salt. So Nick called to his son, “Go to the village and buy some salt, but pay a fair price for it: neither too much 【小题2】 too little.”

His son looked   【小题3】 (surprise). “I can understand why I shouldn’t pay too much, Father, but if I can pay less,【小题4】 not save a bit of money?”

“That would be a very 【小题5】 (reason) thing to do in a big city, but it could destroy a small village like ours,” Nick said.

Nick’s guests, 【小题6】 had heard their conversation, asked why they should not buy sale more cheaply if they could. Nick replied, “The only reason a man would sell sale at a lower priced would be because he was desperate for money. And anyone who took advantage 【小题7】 that situation would be showing a lack of respect for the sweat and struggle of the man who worked very hard to produce it.”

“But such a small thing couldn’t 【小题8】 (possible) destroy a village.”

“In the beginning, there was only 【小题9】 very small amount of unfairness in the world, but everyone added a little, 【小题10】 (think) that it was only small and not very important, and looked where we had ended up today.”
