Aircraft carriers (航母) are kind of cool. Anybody 【小题1】 has ever seen “Top Gun” can prove it. But only a few of the world’s navies (海军) have the ability to build them. In 2017, China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) 【小题2】 (join) that club, launching the Shandong, the country’s first domestically designed and 【小题3】 (build) aircraft carrier.

The carrier is now getting its own clothing line, 【小题4】 collection of T-shirts, jackets, and basketball shorts and so on, as China tries to increase the military’s 【小题5】 (popular) among young people.

Showed via a street-style photo shoot, which sees models posing in front of the 70,000-ton ship, the collection combines practical workwear 【小题6】 casual items bearing (带有) cartoon pictures. One T-shirt 【小题7】 (print) with the image of a robot panda with jets in both paws.

A PLA Navy website paints wearing the clothing as a patriotic (爱国的) statement. “Passion is the love of the aircraft carrier cause,” it says. “It’s the love of the battle position.” For those【小题8】 (serve) on the Shandong, the clothing lets them show their pride by 【小题9】 (firm) telling the world, “I am from the Shandong ship of the Chinese Navy,” reads a post on the website. “This is the 【小题10】 (proud) announcement of sailors,” it adds.

Social robots are going to become a lot more common in the next few years, 【小题1】 in the home or the workplace. Social robots are about to bring technology to the everyday world in a more humanized way, said Cynthia Breazeal, chief scientist at the robot company Jibo.

【小题2】 household robots today do the normal housework, social robots will be much more like companions than mere tools. For example, these robots will be able to distinguish when someone is happy or sad. This allows them 【小题3】 (respond) more appropriately to the user.

The Jibo robot, 【小题4】 (arrange) to ship later this year, is designed to be a personalized assistant. You can talk to the robot, ask it questions, and make requests for it to perform different tasks. It can do things such as reminding an elderly family member to take medicine or taking family photos.

Social robots are not just finding their way into the home. They have potential applications 【小题6】 everything from education to health care and are already finding their way into some of these spaces.

The company’s “Oshbot” robot is built to assist customers in a store, which can help the customers find items and help guide them to the product’s location in the store. It can also speak different languages and make recommendations for different items based on what the customer is shopping for.

The more interaction the robot has with humans, 【小题8】 (much) it learns.But Oshbot, like other social robots, 【小题9】 (not intend) to replace workers, but to work alongside other employees. “We have technologies to train social robots to do things not for us, but with us,” said Breazeal.

Scientists at South Korea’s Yonsei University have created a new type of hybrid (杂交) rice that not only has a meaty pink color but is also packed with beef protein (蛋白质) and fat cells.

Rice is already one of the most nutritious foods available in nature, but thanks to some scientific “magic", it could soon become 【小题1】 sustainable (可持续的) alternative to meat. The new hybrid grains are firmer than natural grains, and when 【小题2】 (cook) they maintain their traditional appearance.
