EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Walk out into the great outdoors, just outside Manhattan! Forest Park is filled with natural treasures and is a perfect getaway for locals and visitors alike. Can you believe this park has been around for over a century? Take the chance to bring family and four-legged friends, and expect to see a friendly doggie here and there. During the hike, you will explore different trails (all well-paved) and stop at a few key spots to learn more about the 3rd largest park in Queens.

How it works:

•We’ll meet at 3 p.m. at Wallenberg Square right outside of Forest Park in Queens.

•Be prepared to walk as we explore multiple paths throughout the park!

•Public transit is available! You can take the EF to Union Turnpike or the LIRR to Kew Gardens and walk 15 minutes over to Wallenberg Square.

•The hike will start and end at Wallenberg Square.

What to bring: Water, hiking boots or sneakers

Difficulty Level: Easy

What if it rains? Refunds will be given if the event is canceled due to rain.

Can I come alone? Yes, most guests do! It’s a great way to meet new people.

Dress Code: Be comfortable and casual. Dress for the weather. You will be outside for 90 minutes.

Ages: 20+. Most of our events attract 20’s-40’s although some events can be adjusted to younger or older (50’s) depending on the event.

What is an Oyster card?

Oyster is the easiest way to pay for journeys on the bus Tube, tram, Docklands light Railway (DLR), London Overground and National Rail journeys in London. You can store your travel cards, Bus & Tram pass, season tickets and credit to pay for journeys as you go.

Where to get an Oyster card?

There are a number of ways for you to get an Oyster card:

●Online at tfl.gov.uk/oyster

How to use an Oyster card?

To pay the correct fare on the Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services, you must always touch in on the yellow Oyster card reader at the start of your journey, and touch out at the end. If you don’t, a maximum cash Oyster fare will be charged when using the bus or tram. You must only touch in at the start, but not at the end of your journey.

What happens if I don’t visist London very often?

Don't worry. Any pay as you go credit on your card will not expire(过期), so you can keep it for your next visit or lend it to a friend.

Campgrounds

There are two drive-in campgrounds in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Namakanipaio and Kulanaokuaiki.

Namakanipaio

Namakanipaio Campground is operated by Hawaii Volcanoes Lodge Company. It is a large, open grassy area with tall trees. This campground has restrooms, water, picnic tables and barbecue pits (烧烤坑). Campfires are allowed in the barbecue pits only. Maximum stay is 7 days.

Fees:

There is a pay station on site.

Drive-in sites—$15. 00 per night

If there are more than two people in your party, you can expand to four people per site with another tent.

Weather may be cool year-round. Daytime temperature range: 60s to 70s F. Nighttime temperature range: 40s to low 50s F. We suggest that you use a tent with a good rainfly(帆布篷顶)and bring warm clothing for cool days and evenings.

Reservations are required.

Kulanaokuaiki

Kulanaokuaiki Campground is located about five miles down the Hilina Pali Road. The nine campsites at Kulanaokuaiki have picnic tables and tent pads, and are available on a first come, first served basis. There is NO WATER at this location. Checkout time is 11: 00 a. m. Fires are NOT permitted. Stay limit is up to 7 days.

Fees:

$10. 00 a night per site

$5. 00 a night per site for campers who hold the Interagency Senior(Golden Age)and Golden Access passes

Fees may be paid at the campground’s self-registration station.

Pets are not allowed in the campground or anywhere on Hilina Pali Road. Nighttime temperature range: high 40s to high 60s F. Daytime temperature range: high 60s to 90s F. We suggest that you use a tent with a good rainfly and bring warm clothing for cool days and evenings.
