Krakow Museums

Krakow is the former capital of Poland. Would you like to learn interesting facts about Krakow’s past and discover its modern side? We invite you to Krakow’s museums!

National Museum

The National Museum, or the most recognizable museum in Krakow, has been operating in Krakow since 1879. In the central office you have a chance to see 2 permanent exhibitions:

-The “Arms and Barracks in Poland” Gallery-which is a collection of over 2 thousand Polish military from the Middle Ages to World War II.

-The Gallery of Decorative Arts and Crafts-the largest exhibition of nearly 4 thousand textiles, furniture, silverware and other crafts.

Home Army Museum

Staying in the war times, it is also worth visiting the Home Army Museum at Wita Stwosza Street. It was established in 2000 in order to present the image of the Polish Underground State operating during World War II. The exposition of the institution remains the same all the time.

Contemporary Art Museum

This is an excellent offer both for those who are fascinated by contemporary art and for those who are completely unconvinced by it. It should be added that the Museum building itself is worth a visit due to its unquestionable architectural qualities. It is another place where you can see many great Street-Art projects. A trip along the Street-Art trail allows you to look at the city from a completely different perspective.

Urban Engineering Museum

Are there any engineers among you? Construction fans? Transportation enthusiasts? Head to the Urban Engineering Museum. It gathers historical objects of technology, illustrating the development of Polish engineering thought, inventions of the industry and domestic companies and industrial plants.

Fifth Apple Day on October 6th

We do hope you will come and share our Fifth Apple Day, which gets larger each year, on October 6th on the Memorial Playing Field from 13:00 to 16:00.

Bring along your apples, windfalls and picked, to make them into juice; 50% eating and 50% cooking apples can make the best and most delicious juice you could ever imagine. We will provide plastic bottles. If you bring your own, it will be better and there will be no charge, though a donation to the Steyning community Orchard (果园) would be appreciated as it will go towards our other activities over the year.

There will be two juicing stations. Young children love getting involved with the cleaning and cutting up of their apples before juicing them.

Our Refreshment Tent will be selling local produce: tarts (果馅饼) and cakes. There will be beer on sale by Riverside Breweries to make the afternoon run more smoothly! Ronnie Reed will be running children’s activities and Face Painting will also be there. We have been lucky enough to engage The Wood Shredders, The Cheer Up Mollys and The Nick Bullen Gang again so there will be wonderful music to listen to all through the afternoon. Simon Zec will be keeping us all up to speed. You can rely on him to know what is going on, who is needed, what is needed and who is lost!

More information about us: steyningcommunityorchard. org.

JourneyCare’s Kids Who Care youth volunteer programs are truly great and set our volunteer program apart from so many other nonprofit organizations. Kid and teens can participate in any of our projects. Check out our fun opportunities!

Kits

Groups can check out Kits that include everything you need to complete a special project that will help warm the hearts of our patients. Great for libraries and after-school programs. Individual families can also check out kits. Some of the projects available are basket weaving, birthday card creation and heart sewing. You can arrange check-outs by calling 708-441-8268.

CareShops

Families participate together at these one-day workshops (工场). CareShops happen throughout our service area. They include activities like games, interest centers, crafts and question and answer time. By the end of each workshop, participants will create something that will be used to bring joy and comfort to our families. They will also know more about how JourneyCare helps our patients and families. An adult family member must be present with each family unit. Trained leaders will lead activities.

Clubs

Participants work with trained leaders for a set amount of time for education, service and leadership training. While learning to celebrate life at all stages, kids will also discover how they can support the communities (社区) we serve, participate in activities with nursing home patients and work on projects to bring a little joy to our patients and their families. Participants must agree to participate in all the meetings.

If you want to have a better understanding of any of the kids Who Care programs, contact Chris Rechsteiner at kidswhocare@journeycare.org.
