Qi Baishi was a famous and great painter who life of nearly 100 years spanned(跨越) two century. He worked with wood during his early youth. It was between 1902 and 1909 that he travelled across China and paint many pictures of scenery. And he had gone through dramatic changes to become a learning painter. Later, his interest changed to simply pictures from everyday life. Cabbage is well-known example of Qi’s works. The tiny insect near the cabbage has some red on their back. The black eyes fixed on the cabbage show the creature’s interest on the vegetable. Qi Baishi’s style of painting often leave the audience guessing and makes them to use their imagination.

People general agree that Pablo Picasso, who lived from 1881 to 1973, is one of the twentieth-century’s greatest western artist. He was born in Spain and at the age of ten was already excellent artist. Picasso had his first exhibition at the age of 16. She studied art in Spain, but moved to France, at his early twenties.

From 1902 to 1904 he has painted a series of pictures that the main colour was blue. These pictures showed poor, unhappy people but are known as Picasso’s “blue period”. From 1904 to 1906 Picasso painted much happy pictures in the colour pink. This period was knew as Picasso’s “pink period”.

Guo Degang started studying xiangsheng when he was 7. Later he leaves his hometown for Beijing, which in 1995 he opened his first club. He has gained movie-star-like fame since then, but is enjoyed by both the young and the old nowadays. His students, who are member of his performance group called Deyunshe, has drawn a lot of attention as well. His eldest son, Guo Qilin, also xiangsheng performer, who has expanded his career into reality shows, TV dramas and movies. He is a constantly object of attention among young fans and paparazzi (狗仔队). Beside Guo, Miao Fu and Wang Sheng, other two xiangsheng performers have also gained a fan base across the country with their Shanxi dialect.
