On September 13th, I woke up in the best mood. It was a late start, so I got to sleep in. Not only did I get my full eight hours of sleep, but an additional two more hours as well. I got ready, danced in my room to my favorite music while I picked out my clothes, made my lunch, and was on my way to school. I arrived at 9: 50 a. m. Little did I know, in the next 20 minutes, my life would change forever. As I got out of my classroom, there he was, holding the gun.

Although everything happened so fast, in a matter of about 4 minutes, I remember it clearly. I remember every face I saw, and I remember every sound I heard. I remember the fear and the panic of the unknown. And lastly, I remember running. Running for my life. I ran down the stairs, out of the school’s front doors, and down the street to the primary school. I remember looking down at my feet. As I looked down I thought to myself, “ How am I running so fast?”

I finally made it to a safe classroom, and 20 other students and I settled in for lockdown. We stayed close to one another and cried. It felt as though the tears going down our faces would never stop. We passed our phones around to text our loved ones that we were safe and that there was a school shooter, shots were fired, and 4 students were injured thus far.

The lockdown lasted about 30 minutes, even though it felt like forever. Our headmaster made his way to our room and explained that the shooter had been caught and we were all going to make our way to the football field.

It was around the 4th grade when I started noticing that I didn’t fit in that well with a lot of kids in my grade. While the other girls were starting to wear make-up, style their hair, and only wear fashionable clothing, I stayed the same. At first I didn’t care, but then I started to feel a little worried. I was afraid that the other girls wouldn’t like me. I wanted to be like them, but I really hated that.

After I entered the 5th grade my mom found a local vocal studio. I had always loved to sing, and taking lessons seemed like fun. I was thrown into a brilliant world of music. Something inside me just clicked, and I had finally found where I belonged. Music gave me a place of my own in the world.

Starting voice lessons was the first of many times that music has changed my life. In the 7th grade, I really didn’t fit in at middle school. Being an athlete is what made you popular, and I was not super athletic. Music saved me again. Every day I knew I could come home from school and sing. I would become someone else. I would let the music fill my body and shine its light in the darkest corners. The light gave me strength. I became friends with other people who were into music. Music also gave me courage.

Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “Life without music would be a mistake.” This is true for me. Without music, my life would be a mistake. Maybe I would have found another hobby, but I doubt that it would help and change me the way music did. I know that music had changed my life.

The famous director of a big and expensive movie planned to film a beautiful sunset over the ocean, so that the audiences could see his hero and heroine(男女主角) in front of it at the end of the film as they said goodbye to each other for ever. He sent his camera crew out one evening to film the sunset for him.

The next morning he said to the men, “Have you provided me with that sunset ?”

“No, sir,” the men answered.

The director was angry. “Why not?” he asked.

“Well, sir,” one of the men answered, “we’re on the east coast here, and the sun sets in the west. We can get you a sunrise over the sea, if necessary, but not a sunset.”

“But I want a sunset!” the director shouted. “Go to the airport, take the next flight to the west coast, and get one.”

But then a young secretary had an idea. “Why don’t you photograph a sunrise,” she suggested, “and then play it backwards? Then it’ll look like a sunset.”

“That’s a very good idea!” the director said. Then he turned to the camera crew and said, “Tomorrow morning I want you to get me a beautiful sunrise over the sea.”

The camera crew went out early the next morning and filmed a bright sunrise over the beach in the middle of a beautiful bay. Then at nine o'clock they took it to the director. “Here it is, sir,” they said, and gave it to him. He was very pleased.

They all went into the studio. “All right,” the director explained, “now our hero and heroine are going to say goodbye. Run the film backwards so that we can see the ‘sunset’ behind them.”

The “sunset” began, but after a quarter of a minute, the director suddenly put his face in his hands and shouted to the camera crew to stop.

The birds in the film were flying backwards, and the waves on the sea were going away from the beach.

For 2-year-old girl Jordyn Cleverly, from Bose, Idaho, her white wedding served as the perfect occasion to wear her grandmother’s very own 55-year-old wedding dress. The long-sleeved dress was first worn by Jordyn’s grandmother, Penny Jensen, when she married her childhood sweetheart in 1962. In images caught by photographer Kortney Peterson, Penny can be seen looking at her granddaughter in her dress and breaking down in tears.

In an interview with Inside Edition, the young bride explained she kept the decision to wear her grandmother’s dress as a secret until the rehearsal(排演) dinner two nights before the wedding. “I didn’t want her to see it for the first time in the church and just start crying when all those memories came back to her,” she said.

Disheartened with the choice of dresses on offer in local shops, Jordyn said, “I tried on a couple of dresses at a local wedding dress shop and I just couldn’t find anything that had the style, that old style that I was looking for.” When she learned her grandma was intending to donate her old dress to charity, Jordyn felt inspired. “I wanted to pay tribute(敬意) to the dress that had been there for 55 years,” she said.

“It may be a size or two too big and so I contacted a local tailor to see if there was anything we could do with it,” she said. “Absolutely, it’s in good shape. My grandma had zero idea; she didn’t know it was in my possession(财产).”

Kortney Peterson said, “Her grandma’s reaction was one of the sweetest reactions I’ve ever seen. Tears were brought to here yes,” Jordyn’s grandfather passed away before she was born. “As she walked outside to see her grandma, it began to rain,” Kortney said. “We all viewed the rain as teardrops from heaven. Teardrops from her grandfather. It made the moment much more beautiful and special.”
