Currently, many of the brainy gadgets being developed for the Internet of Things will anticipate our needs and make choices for us--without being told what to do--marking a(n) 【小题1】 transformation in our relationship with machine.

As we turn more of our decision-making over to the devices, they will 【小题2】 into our personal confidants (知己) and counselors, determining everything from the time we wake up and clothes we wear to the music we listen to and the route we take to work. In the process, experts say our reliance on these 【小题3】 tools will far surpass today's dependence on smart phones. These autonomous assistants are widely expected to help us stay healthier, take better care of our loved ones, live more comfortably, become more environmentally responsible and 【小题4】 our productivity by freeing us from an endless array of boring routines so we can concentrate on the most important ones.

But social scientists and others worry these computerized devices might make decisions that are 【小题5】 flawed or that we otherwise dislike, leaving us feeling less in control of our lives. More importantly, their 【小题6】 observation could result in an excessively conformist (循规蹈矩的)society, some experts fear一especially with the government and other entities (实体) exploring the use of these intelligent machines to assess and prevent "abnormal behavior."

Stanford University researchers believe society may be profoundly impacted by Internet-of-Things machines blessed with humanlike 【小题7】 . So in December they began a century-long study of the technology in part to 【小题8】 the implications “of systems that can make inferences about the goals, intentions, identity, location, health, beliefs, habits and future actions of people."

Understanding such 【小题9】 is crucial, experts say, because the technology is being rapidly adapted. About 13 percent of consumers already have got a smart thermostat, security camera or other devices installed in homes. Instead of just doing what we command, many of the devices being empowered with sophisticated software and micro-electronics to act on their own 【小题10】 as our personal advisers.

Advantages of Robots

Robots are used in almost every field of life today. Robots save time and capital by delivering 【小题1】 work. That’s why Robots have started making their places everywhere.

Here are some of the fields where the robots are serving as helping hands for the past few years.

Such robots that operate alongside doctors in Operation Theater have been built due to the 【小题2】 in Robotics. Health 【小题3】 use Robotics for complex procedures in hospitals. The robot will even operate under the 【小题4】 control of human doctors.

Robots have altered the way 【小题5】 is performed. Now with robots the very complex surgery will easily happen.

Today the world’s top armies use robots at the battlefield. The robots are used as soldiers in space where the conditions for soldiers are not suitable. It 【小题6】 the possibility of war casualties(伤亡人数).

All police and army are using the drones for defense surveillance(监视). For safety purposes a single drone can cover a wide area.

In the field of agriculture robots are being used in developing countries. Robots minimize time 【小题7】 and increase crop yields. A robot is usable from the sowing of seeds to the harvesting of crops. Agriculture is a very essential factor for mankind, and robots are providing tremendous support in this field.

Conclusion

Robots are 【小题8】, meaning they will continuously perform the same task until they are 【小题9】 to stop. Robots are also more reliable than humans, and can function more effectively than humans. Robots are also being used in the research sector, not only in the above-mentioned areas. Robots are also sent to different planets during space missions.

Today robots are certainly making the planet a better place to live in, and the comfort level of human life is rising. But there are advantages and disadvantages to everything, which is the same with robots. Thus the robots also have some disadvantages that can be dangerous. But by taking precautionary steps, certain dangers can be 【小题10】.

Share this with friends, and tell us in the comment section as well. What are your opinions on robots?

Why should mankind explore space? Why should money, time and effort be spent exploring and researching something with so few【小题1】 benefits? Why should resources be spent on space rather than on conditions and people on Earth? These are questions that, understandably, are very often asked.

Perhaps the best answer lies in our genetic (基因的) make-up as human beings. What 【小题2】 our ancestors to move from the trees onto the plains, and into all possible areas and environments? The wider the spread of a species, the better its chance of【小题3】 . Perhaps the best reason for exploring space is this genetic tendency to expand wherever possible.

Nearly every successful civilization has explored, because by doing so, the dangers in surrounding areas can be   【小题4】 and prepared for.

Exploration also allows minerals and other potential (潜在的) resources to be found. Even if we have no【小题5】 need of them, they will perhaps be useful later. Resources may be more than physical possessions.

Knowledge or techniques have been【小题6】 through exploration. The techniques may have medical applications which can improve the length or quality of our lives. We have already benefited from other spin-offs (副产品), including improvements in earthquake 【小题7】 , in satellites for weather forecasting and in communications systems.

While many resources are spent on what seems a small return, the exploration of space【小题8】 creative, brave and intelligent members of our species to focus on what may serve to save us. While space may hold many wonders and explanations of how the universe was formed or how it【小题9】 , it also holds dangers. The dangers exist, but knowledge can help human beings to survive. Without the ability to reach out across space, the chance to save ourselves might not exist.

While Earth is the only planet known to sustain life, surely the ability to 【小题10】 would allow us to live on other planets. It is true that our lifestyles would be different, but human life and cultures have adapted in the past and surely could in the future.

AI artwork sells for $432,500 — nearly 45 times its high【小题1】 — as Christie’s becomes the first auction house to offer a work of art created by an algorithm. This portrait, however, is not the product of a human mind. It was created by an【小题2】 intelligence, an algorithm defined by that algebraic formula with its many parentheses. And when it went under the【小题3】 in the Prints & Multiples sale at Christie’s on 23-25 October, Portrait of Edmond Belamy sold for an【小题4】 $432,500, signaling the arrival of AI art on the world auction stage.

From a distance, Portrait of Edmond de Belamy looks almost plausible. Up close, however, the paintwork becomes a grid of mechanical-looking dots, the man’s face a golden blur with black holes for eyes. Look into those eyes. They show no sign of feeling or life. Did a computer make this?

The answer is yes. The first artwork【小题5】 by AI to be sold at Christie’s, its【小题6】 price would seem to suggest that in future we will get computers to make art for us. Robot van Gogh will harmlessly cut its ear off and robot Picasso will be a genius.

Is this the future AI art visionaries such as the French collective Obvious, which programmed this “painter” by getting it to compare its own work with 15,000 pre-20th century portraits, have in mind? Or are they just, God forbid, making a fast buck from deceivable art collectors? Because believing the algorithm that knocked this up to be in any meaningful way an “artist” is like thinking your voice-interaction programme is out to get you. Dream on. Computers would need to replicate human consciousness before they could replicate the funny thing humans do called “art”.

Art is a way in which human 【小题7】 expresses itself, and is equally true of the earliest cave art, Rembrandt’s portraits and Duchamp’s urinal. And that is what is missing from Portrait of Edmond Bellamy. Art is a way humans communicate ideas, perceptions and feelings to each other. It has no 【小题8】 outside the human passion to communicate. So in what meaningful sense can an AI replica of certain【小题9】 traits of old master paintings be called art?

For a robot to really make art, it would need an autonomous mind that was emotional as well as【小题10】. No AI developer has yet claimed to be anywhere near achieving that and if they ever do, their creation will probably have better things to do than paint portraits — like destroy humanity.

Maybe afterwards robots will invent their own kind of art, but it won’t be some poor pastiche of human genius.

It will be beyond anything we organics could imagine.
