Leslie Morissette’s son, Graham, was six years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia (白血病). Throughout Graham’s treatment in the hospital, Graham connected with everyone he met, from _______patients to younger children. “He would _______ his toys to other sick children or act silly to make them laugh.” Morissette said. “Graham’s special spirit is what kept me_______. He gave me the energy and the _______to fight with him.” In 1997, when he was eight years old, Graham passed away.

Inspired by how Graham lived his life caring about others, Morissette founded the _________Grahamtastic Connection in his late son’s honor. The organization provides free technology—including computers, iPads and robots—to children _________ against cancer and other serious illnesses.

One of the major goals of Morissette’s work is to _________kids to their classrooms. This helps them continue their education despite multiple hospitalizations and days _________ from school.

The robots “_________” children right into the classroom in real time. They can __________ the robots right from their hospital bed or home. If a child is unable to attend school, they can __________log on to their tablet or laptop and __________the robot. They can walk up and down the school paths, and go to lunch with their friends. But the real magic happens __________ classes. The robot enables them to walk down the hallway with their friends, talking about their weekend, their favorite foods and other things. It’s a really great ________ that gives children the feeling of control, when their world is maybe out of control.

“Every time I can help a child in need, I feel as if Graham is looking ________,” Morissette said. “I believe that Graham’s love lives on in the work that I do. And I’m proud and privileged to be able to do it in his honor.”

Like many new graduates, I left university full of hope for the future and wanted to make a_________in the world somehow, but I had no idea how to do that. That’s_________I learned about the Lighthouse Project.

I started my_________as a Lighthouse Project volunteer by reading as much as I could about the experiences of previous_________. I knew it would be_________, and that I would be away from my family and friends for a very long time. _________, I did not take my decision to apply for the Lighthouse Project_________. Neither did my family.

I sent in all the paperwork needed for the application. After countless interviews and presentations, I managed to_________among the candidates and survive the test alone. Several months later, I finally received a call asking me to report for the duty. I would be going to a small village near Abuja, Nigeria.

After completing my_________, I was sent to the village that was small and__________in need of proper accommodation. Though the local villagers were poor, they offered their homes, hearts, and food as if I were their own family. I was asked to__________a small team of local people in building a new schoolhouse. For the next year or so, I__________in that same schoolhouse. But I sometimes thought I learned more from my __________than they did from me.

Sometime during that period, I realized that all those things that had seemed so strange or__________to me no longer did, though I did not get anywhere with the local language, and returned to the United States a different man. The Lighthouse Project had changed my__________forever.

Sunny is waiting for free food in a neighborhood near Toronto Pearson International Airport. She’s________milk, eggs, fruits and vegetables. Sunny doesn’t want Richard or the other two volunteers to________40 kilograms of food from the parking area to her flat. Richard, member of the Sai Dham Food Bank, tried to________Sunny to wait upstairs in her home, but he knows he needn’t argue. As a former nurse, she doesn’t________rely on her own children because she’s________. However, with the help of Sai Dham Food Bank, she’s survived for the past five years. Richard________the team of Sai Dham, where a few dozen volunteers make________to 265 seniors and disabled people who couldn’t ________go to food banks.

Sai Dham was________in 2012, after Richard read an article about the rate(比例)of the________ in the area where they lived. “We never________a food bank at first; we just wanted to________a service for people in need,” said Richard.

At first, they bought________with their own money and helped people by word of mouth.
