Application for summer 2022 is now open!
Test your intellect (智力) without the pressure of leer grades. You will be challenged by lvy League scholars as you immerse yourself in one subject in a small class of approximately 15 students. Classes are noncredit, so you can take a college-level course for learning’s sake.
●Live a balanced (college) life. When class is not in session, you can participate in creative and social activities. Join in co-curricular activities that stimulate your mind. And take time to have fun and get to know your peers.
●Discover your passions. Whether you’re undecided about potential areas of study or want to take a deeper dive into subject you love, the Pre-College Program can help you find what really excites you.
How to Apply
The admissions committee is looking for mature, academically motivated students who meet both of the following criteria:
●Will graduate from high school and enter college in 2023 or 2024
●Are at least 16 years old by June 18, 2022, and will not turn 19 years old before July 31, 2022
The Course Experience
With over 30 courses to choose from in each session of three, you’re sure to find a topic that inspires your interest.
You take one course during a session, and although courses are non-credit and do not have letter grades, they are rigorous (严格的).
At the end of the program, you'll receive a written evaluation from your instructor, as well as a Harvard transcript (成绩单) with a grade of AR or NM (“above requirements” or “requirements not met”). This is a great way to boost your college application.

Swimming Programs
Summer Swim Team
Join a Summer Swim Team and compete with other swimmers! The program is offered at eight different local pools for youths to 17 years old. The season runs June 21-August 21. Practices are daily (Monday through Friday) throughout the summer. Cost: $50.00.

Junior Swim Instructor (少年游泳教练)
Two weeks, 20 hours of instruction, two hours per day for children 11-14 years old. Pre-training for youths interested in becoming swim instructors ($45 per child).
Junior Lifeguard (救生员)
Two weeks, 30 hours of instruction, three hours per day for children 11-14 years old. Pre-training in life-guarding, and customer (消费者) service ($45 per child).

Special Offer
Anyone who takes part in both junior swim instructor and junior lifeguard programs at the same time need only spend $75 instead of $90 for 50 hours of training.

Limited spots are available. Those who would like to participate in the class should register and pay the $12 fee in advance. Admission to the Exhibits is not included. All About Squid (鱿鱼) Grade Levels: 5th-12th Maximum: 15 participants Investigate the amazing body structure of these creatures!Most people refer to squid as great food and the golden fried rings are hard to resist, but for researchers, these creatures have been subjects of scientific study for four decades. In this interactive class, participants will cut open a squid and study how their unique design allows them to catch food and escape from enemies. |
Weather Watchers Grade Levels: K-4th Maximum: 10 participants Weather events such as clouds, lightning and storms can be so astonishing that we sometimes forget that it isn’t magic — it is SCIENCE!With Weather Watchers, participants step into the shoes of meteorologists (气象学家) and learn the formation of local weather events. Interactive demonstrations allow the participants to watch the development of clouds, lightning and storms in the classroom. Participants will also work together to create their own weather station. Together, they will explore why these local weather events are so important to native animals and plants. |

Tomato juice flows through the streets of Bunol on the last Wednesday of August as the worlds largest tomato fight happens. Festivities begin in the town square where there is a huge pole covered in soap and with a leg of ham at the top. Participants try to climb up the pole to get the ham as watchers throw buckets of water to them. After a gun is fired to signal the beginning of the fight, people catch the tomatoes and throw each other in the streets until the gun sounds again, marking the end of the event.
Holi, India
This spring festival is celebrated throughout the country in late February or early March. The two-day event celebrates the legend of Prahlad, who escaped unharmed from the fire of the evil Holika Dahan. People mark the event by lighting fires and throwing colored powder on one another Children load colored water into toy pistols called pichkari and take aim at passers-by. Holi is known as a happy celebration of the victory of good over evil.
Burning Man, Nevada
This infamous festival began in 1986 with the burning of a large figure to mark the summer solstice (夏至). It’s since grown into a week-long annual event that draws more than 48,000 people to the Black Rock Dessert. It is held during the week before Labor Day. Participants set up camp in the desert to celebrate art.
Songkran, Thailand
This festival marks the Thai New Year, which is celebrated in the second week of April. This is the hottest time of the year in Thailand, so it makes sense that the biggest Songkran tradition is to throw water on people. Thais of all ages join in water fights, using buckets, hoses (软管) and water guns to celebrate the event.
