It was the wedding anniversary and Ria(Wife) was waiting for her husband to show up. After some years of marriage, things changed between them. Once they are a loving couple who couldn’t live without each other, but now everything had changed. Now, they were fighting over every little thing, but both of them didn’t like to put an end into their marriage.

Ria was waiting to see if Manoj(Husband) remembered that it was their wedding anniversary. As the doorbell rang, she ran toward the door and opened it with a smile and a bunch of flowers to greet her husband. They started to celebrate the anniversary. They wanted to make up for fights. They planned to prepare champagne and light music to celebrate.

All of a sudden, the phone in the bedroom rang. Ria went to pick it up. On the call there was a man who said, “Hello ma’am, I am calling from the police station. Is this Mr. Manoj Kumar’s number？”

She replied, “Yes, it is! ”

“I am sorry, ma’am, but an accident happened and a man died. We got this number from his wallet. Can you please come to the police station and identify the body？”the man replied.

Ria was extremely shocked! “But my husband is with me here! ”she replied in disbelief.

“Sorry, ma’am, but the incident took place this afternoon and he died while he was getting off a bus.” the man replied. On hearing this, Ria was about to lose her consciousness. “How could this happen？”she thought to herself.

She had read some stories about souls returning to meet their loved ones after their death. Her heart sank .In fear she ran towards other rooms to look for her husband. But he was not there.

She said to herself, “It’s true! He left me forever.”

Suddenly there was a noise from bathroom, and Manoj came out from it.

It was summer. Everyone was going away on holiday except for Kevin, Emma and their parents. Dad hadn’t booked a trip and it was too late. Everything was booked up.

Kevin had an idea. “Uncle Jeff’s got a holiday house by the sea. Let’s go and stay with him.” “Oh NO!” said Mum, “Not with Uncle Jeff.” And the thought of staying with his brother was enough to make Dad surf the Internet again for holiday cottages by the sea. But they had no luck.

On the first of August, the tyres of Dad’s big blue car crunched up the driveway of Uncle Jeff’s country house by the sea. “I’ll take the kids to the beach so that Mum and Dad can have some time together. ”Uncle Jeff offered. Although Dad thought it did sound rather nice, he said, “It’s alright Jeff. We’ll look after the kids.”

Kevin and Emma loved everything to do with the beach-digging sandcastles, eating ice cream, and diving into the waves. Mum and Dad both wore big floppy hats, put on sun cream, and read big fat paper back books nearby. The routine of beach during the day continued. But when Dad had read to the end of his book, he mentioned to Mom it would be nice to have a break from the kids. Mom applauded.

The next day they gave Uncle Jeff instructions for looking after the kids. They mustn’t swim too far out to sea. And Jeff said, “Right-oh. Got ya.”, which didn’t make Mum feel at all reassured.

But he did watch them while they were swimming. He even bought them a little inflatable boat, so that they could have some fun floating on it and jumping on and off into the waves. Uncle Jeff watched the kids play all morning, but in the afternoon he decided that it would probably be alright if he allowed himself a short nap.

At first the kids were playing “Pirates” with the little boat only a few yards from the beach.

On the beach, Uncle Jeff sat up slowly and scanned the shore for a sight of the children.

Mom poured herself a glass of orange juice. “I’m worried about your grandma,” she said. I asked, “Why?” “Well, before she moved to Florida, she was active. But now she sleeps most of the day or watches television. I can’t get her out of the house, and she won’t try to make friends,” Mom replied. My grandma wanted to go back to New York. But she couldn’t live alone anymore. That was why my mom let her come to live with us in Florida.

“I’ll find a way to make Grandma love Florida,” I thought for a minute and said. Mom smiled and said, “I wish you could.” After school, I saw Grandma watching television and figured she hadn’t moved all day. In my room, I took out my collection. I had found many beautiful and special seashells. My favourite one was called Baby’s Ear. It’s a beautiful white seashell. Looking at my seashells gave me an idea. I went into the living room and sat on the sofa.

“Did you ever go to the beach when you were little, Grandma?” I asked. “Once my mother took me there, but I didn’t enjoy it because I was afraid of the water and couldn’t swim. Even now, I’m a little afraid of the water,” she replied. I wished Grandma could feel the way I did about the beach. I loved to see seabirds and look for seashells. “Well, could you take me to the beach, Grandma? I need some new seashells for my collection. I’m not allowed to go by myself. Please!” I begged. Grandma finally agreed and took my hand as we left the house.

We walked to the beach. The sky was blue. I handed Grandma a plastic bag, and said, “This is for the seashells you find.” “Oh, you should take it,” she said. I shook my head. “No, Grandma. I need all the help I can get.” “All right,” she said.

We walked side by side on the beach.

“Wow! Look what I found!” Grandma shouted, standing in the sand and holding a pink seashell.
