With the 2019 Spring Festival around the corner, more and more Chinese people are planning to spend their Pig Year Spring Festival holidays abroad.   Malaysia, a beautiful Southeast Asian country on the maritime silk road, has become the favorite tour destination for Chinese people. Here are four places well worth visiting.

Kuala Lumpur

The capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is a common favorite. Unlike most of the cities in the world, it is more than where the visitor lands and then goes off to other places, because Kuala Lumpur itself offers two must-see attractions: One is Menara KL Tower and Petronas Tower, the second highest twin towers in Asia, on the top of which tourists can enjoy beautiful skyline and outlook of the whole city. The other is the Perdana Lake Gardens. During the Pig Year Spring Festival, the celebrations such as lion dance, dragon dance, lantern riddles, acrobatics will be held. All above free and open 24 hours.

Selangor

Selangor defines the most developed and populated states of Malaysia, closely following the urban extending area of Kuala Lumpur. It has the National Zoo of Malaysia and a first-class motor race tracks. It is a hot shopping zone, and the country's gambling capital, Gentling Highlands. Besides, there are the Batu Caves with Hindu religion. Along the fiver in Kuala Selangor, one can see the wonderful crowds of fireflies flying in the night sky like bright stars.

Penang

Penang on the west coast of Malaysia is one of the best places to visit in Malaysia. Its historic capital city, George Town, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is famous for its landmark homes, fort, temples and museums. Penang offers an excellent spread, including some incredible street food. Some of the best treats and tastes are available at the food joints lining the waterfront roads.

Tioman Island

Tioman Island is set in the east coast of Malaysia, where it is carved into different beaches, and it is unlike most of the other travel destinations of Malaysia. It is not too far away from Singapore, but is tiny in terms of development. Interestingly, the accommodation is great, though available at low costs.

Providing five-star luxury (豪华) in the middle of a treasured wilderness without damaging the environment might not be easy, but it is far from impossible. The King Pacific Lodge in British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest proves that if enough care and attention is taken, the task is within the reach of any tourist provider.

Unlike many other hotel building projects, no trees were cut down and no land was wasted in order to build it. The Lodge does not have the same location but sits on a floating boat pulled into the sea bay in May, till September. Those wishing to stay in one of its seventeen rooms must access it by boat or seaplane. Each guest staying at the Lodge is charged 3% conservation tax, but is rewarded by the chance to sight whales and bears. In 2000, the Lodge management signed an agreement with the native Gitga’ at people. Together they work for the benefit of the area. The Lodge recognizes the native tribe (部落) as the owners of the land, pays the tribe for the use of their land and even supports the native youth and employs the tribe’s people. They, in turn, teach the newcomers about the local culture.

The King Pacific Lodge is one of a growing number of tourism companies that go beyond only minimizing (把……减至最小程度) their environmental effect to win the approval (批准) of the local community where they set up their business. These companies use environmentally friendly solution to problems, and are careful to limit their use of resources and protect threatened species. Realizing how destructive (破坏性的) tourism can be, they want to avoid the love-it-to-death effect of tourism and leave a lighter environmental footprint.

This charming European town is just one hour from Paris and the most exciting art destination of the moment. The spring weather here is delightful, ideal for strolling around on the cobblestoned streets. The city government has poured money into public art projects such as Lille 3000, a group of indoor and outdoor art exhibitions, as well as a wonderful modern art museum.

The Chinese city continues to grow rapidly, with popular restaurants and bars, world-class shopping, and five-star hotels. The weather is incredibly pleasant in May—the spring rains have passed, but the summer humidity is around the corner. And come here before the crowds decrease in June for the opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort, which is sure to be popular for families during the summer break.

The small European island gained some major screen time recently owing to the setting for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s By the Sea( the movie was shot in Malta and its sister island, Gozo). Stay at the Corinthia Palace, a fantastic home base for touring the medieval town, beaches, ancient temples, and Maltese vineyards. The tourists really begin to decrease in June, so beat the crowds in May to get the beaches to yourself.

Balis beaches attract all types of sun worshippers, but surfers know to head to Canggu, a town on the island’s southwestern coast. Lately, it’s become a destination for more than its breaks, with the opening of vegetarian-focused restaurants, Australian-style cafes, and fantastic hotels like the Fri Bali Echo Beach. In May, Deus, a mixed-use space that includes a restaurant, music venue, and art gallery, hosts a major surf competition, bringing together professionals and amateurs for a fun-filled weekend.
