One of my best memories during high school occurred last November, when Dr. Jane Goodall came to our school. She is one of the best-known _____ in the world.

Although I have been part of Roots & Shoots since 2006, I had never imagined _____ Dr. Goodall so soon in my lifetime. So when I heard that Dr. Goodall was going to visit our school, I almost screamed with _____. For the entire month leading up to her _____, I could feel the anticipation (期望) _____. A couple weeks ago, I ventured down to Charlotte, NC, to meet Cole Rosenberger, who had a serious passion for protecting forests. I wanted to _________ share his story with you.

Cole _________ me in March asking how he could help protect North Carolina’s coastal forests. By the _________ of his email I assumed he was in high school, so I sent him materials that I thought would be _________ and talked with him about our _________.

A few weeks later he informed me that he had received the _________ from his principal to get postcards signed by the kids at his school and developed a (n) _________ plan. It was also at this time that I _________ a “secret” email from Cole’s mom, letting me know that he is eight years old and really excited about this project. That _________ me away!

Cole organized his elementary school to sign postcards to ask McDonald’s to use ____________ packaging. A few months later, McDonald’s decided to use 100% recycled fibers in their bags. This win ____________ Cole to do more, and he was ready to ____________ KFC. He partnered with seven schools, got the attention of media, and ____________ over 6,000 postcards to KFC’s headquarters. It took several years before KFC ____________ to use more recycled paper in its packaging.

I almost cried at the beauty and ____________ of youth to make a positive impact on the Earth.

The first time ever I realized that plastic was a serious matter for our planet was during a road trip in Western Australia, almost 12 years ago.

We ________ at a supermarket along the Coral Bay coast to buy some groceries and the lady at the counter told us they didn’t sell any shopping bags in order to prevent plastic in the ________ and to help preserving the endangered turtles living in that area. After a first reaction of surprise, we ________ all our shopping in our arms and left.

This was just one of the many experiences I’ve lived that made me more ________ about my impact and pushed me to adopt different habits to live and ________ more sustainably.

Our trip to Borneo was another life-changing ________ that has strengthened my resolution to a zero-waste lifestyle. While traveling in some countries, we came to know that ________ drinking water was always a challenge. Besides, we were also ________ impressed by our stay on Libaran Island.
