When Michael Jordan’s feet left the ground, time seemed to stand still. The player 【小题1】became known as “Air Jordan” 【小题2】(change) basketball with his graceful moves and jumps. Paul and I were on our school basketball team, The Lions. We 【小题1】 (love) basketball and were both huge fans of the NBA. My favorite player was LeBron James. Paul’s favorite player was Tyrone Bogues, a guy 【小题2】 played for the Charlottee Hornets, although we 【小题3】 (actual) agree that they are both champions.

Bogues was only 1.6 metres tall, which made him the 【小题4】 (short) player ever in the NBA. Paul was only 1.6 metres tall, too! During all those hours of doing jump shots 【小题5】 his own, he used Bogues as his 【小题6】 (inspire). Paul once said. “If Bogues could make 【小题7】, why not me?”

Our coach was not so sure. Paul had to try out many times just for 【小题8】 (make) the team. He was still usually on the bench, 【小题9】 was really tough on him. Everyone knew Paul had real skills, and was someone who worked really hard and had a strong desire to play for 【小题10】 team. However. Paul didn’t get a chance.

When it comes to volleyball, we can’t help 【小题1】(think) of Lang Ping. Lang Ping used to be a 【小题2】(fame) player. Now she is also known 【小题3】 a coach. Led by her, Chinese women volleyball team won the world championship in 2019, 【小题4】 made the whole nation excited.

Lang Ping was born in Tianjin in 1960. Lang began playing volleyball as a teenager and 【小题5】(eventual) joined the national team in 1978. Her height made 【小题6】 possible for her to play volleyball well. With time going by, Lang Ping played better and better. Lang Ping and her teammates played so well that they won champions several 【小题7】(time) in the 1980s.

After she 【小题8】(retire) in 1986, Lang Ping coached volleyball in Italy and America. In 1995, she returned to China to work as a coach. She was 【小题9】 busy with her work to take care of her family. In 2016 Chinese women volleyball team won a gold medal at the Olympics in Brazil. Because of the victory, Lang Ping became the first person in the volleyball 【小题10】(win) an Olympic gold medal as both a player and a coach. And, Lang Ping and her team won another world championship in 2019 for our motherland.
