The project brought together governments and environmentalists from around the world. Temples and other cultural sites were taken down piece by piece, and then moved and put back together again in a place 【小题1】 they were safe from the water. Since the project started, nearly 500,000 high-quality digital photographs 【小题4】 (produce).

The Mogao Caves have been playing an important role in different cultures and are part of the history of many countries. By【小题5】 (share) so many digital photos over the Internet, the group hopes to promote wider interest 【小题6】 China’s ancient history, culture, and traditions. Besides, they also hope to   【小题7】   (far) educate people about the significance of safeguarding historic and cultural relics.

One researcher, 【小题8】 is working on the project, expresses his opinion. 【小题9】 researcher thinks it is very important for people to appreciate their own cultural heritage as well as the cultural heritage of other countries, which contributes to international 【小题10】 (communicate) and understanding.

Last year, China published (出版) photocopies (影印本) of ancient Tibetan literature taken to France from the famous Mogao Grottoes a century ago.

The Dunhuang manuscripts (手稿) were first discovered in 1900 in the Mogao Grottos, 【小题1】 UNESCO World Heritage Site in northwest China’s Gansu. There are more than 60,000 of them. 【小题2】 (date) back to the 4th century, the manuscripts are 【小题3】 (main) in Chinese, but some are shown in other languages including Tibetan. In the early 20th century, a large number of Dunhuang Tibetan manuscripts 【小题4】 (take) to countries such as France and Britain.

Northwest Minzu University and Shanghai Chinese Classics Publishing House, together with some 【小题5】 (edit) from the National Library of France, compiled (编撰) the photocopies, 【小题6】 were published in 35 books as a set. The series is expected to show the 【小题7】 (economy) activities and cultural exchanges in the age of Tubo in Dunhuang. It took the team about 15 years 【小题8】 (complete) the documents in Chinese and Tibetan languages. It is the first time that the entire Tibetan literature preserved in France has been published in the form 【小题9】 photocopies.

At present, the ancient Tibetan manuscripts preserved in Britain 【小题10】 (change) into a digital form by Chinese researchers, in the country’s efforts to study and preserve unique Tibetan culture. It is said that the task is expected to be finished soon.
