One morning, I was waiting at the bus stop, worried about being late for school. There were many people 【小题1】(wait) at the bus stop, and some of them looked very anxious and 【小题2】(disappoint). When the bus finally came, we all hurried on board. I got a place next to the window, so I had 【小题3】 good view of the sidewalk. A boy 【小题4】 was riding a bike caught my attention. He was riding beside the bus and waving his arms. I heard a passenger behind me shouting to the driver, but he refused 【小题5】(stop) until we reached the next stop. Still, the boy kept riding. He was carrying something over his shoulder and shouting. 【小题6】(final), when we came to the next stop, the boy ran up the door of the bus. I heard an excited conversation. Then the driver stood up and asked, “Did anyone lose a suitcase at the last stop?” A woman on the bus shouted, “Oh, dear! It’s 【小题7】(I)”. She pushed her way to the driver and 【小题8】(take) the suitcase thankfully. Five others on the bus began talking about 【小题9】 the boy had done and the crowd of 【小题10】(stranger) suddenly became friendly to one another.

After college I wanted to make a difference in the world, so I became a volunteer teacher and【小题1】(send) to Namibia. Honestly my first choice wasn’t Africa, but I am 【小题2】(extreme) grateful that I had the chance. So with a group of equally eager young 【小题3】(graduate), I went on my journey.

Schools were quite bare, and the students had tiring days,【小题4】(walk) miles to get to school, often barefoot. With their mountains of work at home, few possessions and little opportunity, these children were joyful,【小题5】I admired.

This was my first time to live abroad in a different culture and simply getting used to the【小题6】(live) conditions was big adjustment. I had no electricity, running water, phone【小题7】the Internet. Imagine no air - conditioning at a place【小题8】the temperature often goes beyond 38 degrees Celsius! Some days it was just too hot to move.

However, I could end each day with a glorious African sunset. And at night, I had a light—pollution—free view of the entire Milky Way. Before Namibia, I never thought I would survive in such【小题9】environment. My experience awakened me to not only the limitations to place on ourselves, but also our amazing ability【小题10】(adapt). Stepping out of your comfort zone in another culture will certainly make your life worthwhile.

I went shopping with my partner,【小题1】needed a pair of trousers. After 2 hours of looking, trying, etc, we decided to sit at a Cafe for a break, as we both dislike shopping. While【小题2】(wait) for the coffee he noticed a homeless man outside and told me that he’d found a pound coin in the changing room and he was going to give it【小题3】the man.

On his return he told me that the man was talking “nonsense” without even looking at him. He had tried to have a conversation with the man without【小题4】(succeed).Eventually he just put the money in one of his bags. The man had lots of bags and was also checking the rubbish bin taking【小题5】(many) things. One of the things he repeated a few times【小题6】(be)’I have a million pounds in my bank account’.

I【小题7】(touch) by my partner’s gesture. Not long before this, he found a penny coin on the street. I suggested he should do what my grandmother always told me【小题8】(do) and pass it on to someone else, no matter how small. He’d made fun of me【小题9】(kind) as I’d also suggested adding a pound to it as it was such【小题10】small amount.
