Never Forget Why You Started

At the 19th National Congress of the CPC, “Never forget why you started” was a key message. And that same message 【小题1】(apply) to everyone’s life.

Afterwards, he came to Shanghai for a job. There was one thing he regretted: he didn’t get a job as a translator but became a teacher instead. With time 【小题7】(go) by, some people forget their ambitions. How can you keep your ambition alive? First of all, writing down your ambition is a good way to remind you. Second, take action to stay closer to your ambition. For example, I have to memorise English words to 【小题8】(large) my vocabulary. I also try to speak English as much as I can so that I can communicate with 【小题9】(foreign) freely.

“Never forget why you started” is the key 【小题10】 your success. If you find your ambition, catch it quickly, protect it and keep it in your heart.

More and more Chinese are having English names, but not everyone is good at 【小题1】 (find) one. Why not offer them some help. 【小题2】 American girl called Lindsay is now teaching people how to get better English names.

After noticing the problem, Lindsay had an idea. She quit (停止) her job and set up a website ( bestenglishname.com) to help Chinese people to get better English names.

The website helps people 【小题7】 two ways. After they take an online quiz, people will get five English names based on their personal 【小题8】 (inform), such as age, job and even future plans. This costs 18 yuan. People can also meet with Lindsay to talk about their English name, but that 【小题9】 (cost) more.

Now about 2,000 people each day visit this website. Most of 【小题10】 (they) are preparing to study or work abroad. Lindsay is planning to offer them more help, such as helping them write resumes.

When I packed up and moved from the comforts of my little hometown to Waco, I remember【小题1】(feel) lost. All my friends were so excited to start their own lives, but I just wasn’t sure【小题2】I was ready. Many things worried me. But I hid my fears and when the time【小题3】 (final) came, I【小题4】 (hug) my mother goodbye, made the two-hour one-way drive from Coppel to Waco, and set up my new room. 

For the first few【小题5】 (week), I didn’t miss home or really feel any kind of emotion except tiredness. There was so much for me to learn that I hadn’t had time to think about anything. I learned to set【小题8】 (I) a schedule of getting groceries, cleaning my room and doing my laundry on Sundays. 

Nowadays, in my second semester, I feel I have almost adapted【小题9】the university life. The transition from high school to college wasn’t as difficult as my mind made me think it would be. One of the best things college has taught me is how to be【小题10】 (independence).
