As a middle schooler, one of my life goals was the Presidential Fitness Award-an honor given to those who passed a series of gin-class tests that included doing a number of pull ups, running a mile, and, among other things, the sit and reach(another version of toe touching). That's where things went wrong for me. I could never reach quite far enough.

Toe touching is an easy way to begin or end any sort of workout, For most people, it is among the easiest stretching exercises to do. But for me(and any of my classmate)it's complete suffering. Why? “The two biggest factors are the flexibility of your hamstrings(腿筋) and the range of motion of your hip(髋) joints,” says Jeffrey Jenkins, a physiologist at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. “But another big factor is the relative length of your arms and your torso(躯干) to your legs, which unfortunately can't be changed.”

Ienkins says that although there are sore unjust aspects, overall the toe touch is not the worst measure of flexibility. But if you are flexibility clumsy like me, there are some things you can do to improve the flexibility of the body you have. Whenever you stretch then, your muscles contract, tighten, and resist the force to be stretched, resulting in that annoyingly painful feeling that most of us get when we first reach down to touch our toes or attempt to stretch other muscles. However, Jenkins says, if you are patient, this too shall pass.

If you hold the stretch for a minimum of six seconds, you can actually overcome the re flex (反射). In fact, Jenkins says, there's some evidence that holding still stretches for 30 seconds results in greater improvement in flexibility than holding it for 15 seconds, and just as much improvement as 60 seconds. But for some people, the pain that accompanies those sixty seconds is just too severe. If you can get past that pain, then you can probably improve your flexibility However, Jenkins cautions against tolerating too much pain; you could be tearing a muscle.

Anger Management

Maybe you have a serious attitude to life, or perhaps you are just angry. Everyone gets angry. 【小题1】 The following strategies will help you manage it in more positive ways.

Angry people tend to swear to reflect their inner thoughts. 【小题2】 For instance, instead of telling yourself,   “oh, it’s awful, it’s terrible, everything’s ruined,” tell yourself, “it’s understandable that I’m upset about it, but it’s not the end of the world and getting angry is not going to fix it anyhow.”

Don’t say the first thing that comes into your head, but slowdown and think carefully about what you want to say. Listen carefully to what the other person is saying and take your time before answering. At the same time, it’s natural to get defensive when you’re criticized, but don’t fight back. 【小题3】

Give yourself a break. 【小题4】 One example is the working mother who has a standing rule that when she comes home from work, for the first 15 minutes “nobody talks to Mom unless the house is on fire.” After this brief quiet time, she feels better prepared to handle demands from her kids without blowing up at them.

Not all anger is inappropriate, and often it’s a healthy, natural response. 【小题5】 And it disappoints us to find out that this isn’t always the case. The best attitude to bring to such a situation, then, is not to focus on finding the solution, but rather on how you handle and face the problem.

A.But letting it get out of control is harmful.
B.We should have a positive attitude towards anger.
C.Try replacing emotional thoughts with more reasonable ones.
D.There is also a cultural belief that every problem has a solution.
E.That means letting go of the busy schedule and focus on the moment.
F.Make sure you have some “personal time” scheduled for stressful days.
G.Keeping your head can keep the situation from becoming a disastrous one.

How do actors and actresses memorize hundreds of lines? Memorizing lines takes practice and constant repetition. However, there are a few ways to make the memorization process run smoothly and quickly.

【小题1】

For most performers, there is no quicker way of memorizing lines. To learn lines, an actor must recite the play loud over and over again. Most rehearsals (彩排) encourage this by running through the lines or having a “read through”. By the time opening night arrives, most actors have spoken their lines hundreds of times.

Listen to your cast members(参演人员).

Sometimes inexperienced actors spend rehearsals just looking at fellow performers, waiting patiently to say their next line. 【小题2】 This will help the actor learn his lines better because the context of the dialogue is absorbed.

Record your lines.

Because there is often not enough rehearsal time, many performers find ways to listen to the play’s dialogue during everyday activities. They use a tape recorder or an MP4 player to listen to the lines from each relevant scene. Some actors prefer to record the lines of all the characters, including their own. 【小题3】 Others like recording the lines of fellow cast members, and they leave a blank space so that they can insert their dialogue while listening to the recording.

Think positively and don’t panic.

【小题4】 Actors forget lines now and then. When it happens, however, most of the time the audience never notice. If you forget a line in the middle of your performance, don’t freeze. Stay in character. Keep the scene going to the best of your ability. If unfortunately you forget a line once, you will probably never forget that line ever again. 【小题5】

A.Most actors will experience stage fright before the opening night.
B.Read lines loud and repeat them.
C.Practice makes perfect.
D.Read lines loud and remember them in a flash.
E.Sometimes embarrassment is the toughest method of memorization.
F.Then, they not only listen carefully, but they also speak all of the lines.
G.Instead, they should be listening carefully, responding in character at all times.

Studies have shown that to cultivate (培养) gratitude can increase an individual’s happiness, reduce one’s sadness, and give strength to a person. Those who consciously express and cultivate gratitude have been reported to have much higher self-esteem (自尊) compared to those who do not. They are also more willing to help others. 【小题1】

Wondering how you yourself can cultivate gratitude more and more every single day? Below are some wonderful tips to follow.

A board on the wall is a great boost, especially in work environments. 【小题2】 Remember that it is very important to acknowledge what to appreciate, especially when you don’t really feel grateful. It can change your mood for the better right away.

【小题3】 Another way to cultivate gratitude in your life, whether at home or in the workplace, is gratitude cards. Give them to your colleagues or your clients. You can show your appreciation by saying what you’re actually grateful for on the cards.

When someone goes out of their way to do something really important for you, you should make them know how grateful you are to them. 【小题4】 If possible,do it in person. This will have a bigger impact if you say it rather than just emailing them.

【小题5】 Cultivating gratitude will not only help you keep going in a challenging work environment, but also make you have a positive attitude to do an amazing job or to accomplish a difficult task.
