China’s new bullet train is now the world’s fastest land vehicle (交通工具) China Rail-way Rolling Stock Corporation showed the production version of its magnetic levitation (磁悬浮) bullet train in Qingdao on Tuesday. State media says the train has a top speed of 373 mph. That speed doesn’t just make it the fastest train in the world, but makes it the fastest land vehicle. The bullet train is able to travel at such high speeds because of magnetic levitation. The technology uses electro-magnetic force to levitate the body of the vehicle less than two inches from the rails and drive it forward along the tracks. By riding on a cushion of air, friction (摩擦力) is completely reduced, allowing it to travel faster than traditional trains where wheels and rails are constantly in contact. Although China has made use of the technology for a couple decades now, it’s only ever been used at very limited areas.
China Railway says its bullet train will greatly help cut down travel time. At top speedy the vehicle will be able to complete the 754-mile trip between Beijing and Shanghai in just two and a half hours. That same trip takes just over three hours by plane, five and a half hours by current high-speed rail options or 12 hours by car. That could make the train an especially attractive travel option for business travelers in the country. It’s unclear when the new bullet train will go into operation. The vehicle that the company showed off on Tuesday is the finished article.
Of course, the train’s record might not stand for long. The Central Japan Railway Company is testing a maglev train. It will be able to top out at 375 mph, according to New Atlas. But that isn’t expected to be shown in public until 2027 at the earliest. That gives China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation plenty of time to refine and upgrade its bullet train and push its top speed even higher.

Fly on non-stop routes
Most accidents occur during the takeoff, climb, descent and landing phases of a flight, so flying non-stop reduces your exposure to these complex procedures.
Choose larger aircraft
Although small aircraft have very good safety records, those with more than 30 passenger seats are designed to comply(遵守) with much stricter regulations and are tested more regularly to make sure they still comply. Also, in the unlikely event of a serious accident, larger aircraft provide a better opportunity for passenger survival.
Pay attention to the pre-flight safety briefing
The information may seem repetitious(重复的), but it’s worth listening to the flight attendants. And even if you’ve flown before, it doesn’t mean you know everything about the aircraft you’re on, such as the location of the closest emergency exit.
Store things safely
Never put very heavy articles in the overhead storage bins. They may fall out when someone opens the bin and cause injury. Also, the bin may not be able to hold heavier objects during turbulence(气流).
Keep our seat belt fastened while you are seated
Cabin crew always tell you this, but it’s important. You would be seriously injured if the plane hits unexpected turbulence. Always fasten your seat belt if you are told to. The general rule of flying is this: If you are told to do something, do it first and ask questions later.
Let the flight attendant pour your hot drinks
Flight attendants are trained to handle hot drinks like coffee or tea in a crowded aisle on a moving aircraft, so allow them to pour the drink and hand it to you. Never ask to take a coffee pot from one of them.

C.How to improve safety while you are flying. | D.How to avoid injury. |
A.They are more comfortable. | B.They have stricter regulations. |
C.They are tested more often. | D.There are more possibilities of surviving. |
A.anything the flight staff tell you to do | B.general safety advice |
C.walking around the plane | D.pouring hot drinks |
A.You are not supposed to ask for a coffee pot. |
B.Take-offs is safer on non-stop flights than landings. |
C.Every aircraft is different, so the safety procedures may be different. |
D.Seat belts should be worn to protect against turbulence. |

Dear Residents
RE. NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION-SHORELINE EROSION PROTECTION
Sheet Pile Wall,Rip Rap Protection(抛石护岸) and Spot Repair on SA SU Road between Church and Jimmy Road, Tsawout First Nation. Our File: CPMS 6849
Beginning April 1, 2019, our community, Tsawout First Nation, will be beginning work on the Shoreline Erosion(侵蚀)Protection project along SA SU Road between Church and Jimmy Road. Workers employed by Donn Mann Excavating and Tsawout First Nation Public Works Department will be onsite working from 7: 00 am until 5: 00 pm daily Monday to Friday until September 30,2019.
PROJECT RELATED INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Traffic Delays -In order to safely and efficiently complete this construction item, there will be some lane(车道)restrictions. Car drivers must follow the polices orders, slow down the speed, and pass the construction area extremely cautiously. The construction item may cause traffic delays. We will make every effort to minimize any potential inconvenience and provide you with the latest notice when disruptions( 中断)must occur. Police and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
Truck Traffic -At times you will notice increased truck traffic in the construction area. Please be aware and use extra caution while driving
Vibration -You may experience some vibration at home during the construction. The shaky motion happens due to the work being done. We recommend that you remove or secure objects on shelves and walls.
This construction item is part of the Tsawout First Nation Shoreline Erosion Protection project that will be beginning in April 2019 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Please see upcoming newsletters and notices for further updates.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation

The Beijing Winter Olympics is a great success. On the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed train, the crew (乘务组) welcome passengers from different countries in different languages, such as “Hello!”, “Bonjour!”, “Guten Tag!”, “Zdravstvuyte!” and so on. With their good service, passengers can make their trips happy and warm.
The Bejing Zhangiakou High-speed railway plays a very important part in many aspects. It connects the three main hosting places (Beijing, Yanqing and Chongli) together. It shortens the travel time between Beijing and Chongli from more than three hours to just one hour. The trains are well designed and have many advantages, some of which are as follows:
Smart operations
Some of the trains along the Beijing-Zhangjiakou railway line are smart enough to drive by themselves! More than 2,700 sensors (传感器) make sure the train runs smoothly. Most importantly, the trains can run in temperatures as low as -40ºC.
Large screens
Some carriages are equipped with large screens. You can watch the Olympics live shows on it with the help of 5G technology. No matter whether you are an athlete or a reporter, you won’t miss any exciting show.
Special carriages
There are special carriages for the disabled people. It’s wider and has Braille everywhere which greatly helps the blind to read easily. There is also a barrier-free (无障碍的) toilet with an SOS button. Next to the toilet, there is also a space especially for skis.
Safe bags
A small smart card can be tied to your luggage. It connects to your phone through Bluetooth. In this way, you can always know where your luggage is. You never need to worry about losing your bags!
