(1)       Art Study Center Open Hours

Through December 21, the Art Study Center will hold special open hours on Mondays, from 1 pm to 4 pm. The Art Study Center is located on Level 4. Please be prepared to present a photo ID. The workers will charge you 25 cents for access. Level 4 will check bags, coats, umbrellas, and any food or drink. Do remember to put things in the lockers on Level 1.

(2)       Student Guide Tour

These tours, designed and led by Harvard students from a range of scientific groups, focus on animals and plant life. They provide visitors a unique view into learning about creatures. Please meet in the Calderwood Courtyard, in front of the digital screens between the shop and the admissions desk. Free with museums admission. Tours are limited to 15 people; no registration required. Tours are offered every Tuesday and Friday at 2 pm, and every Saturday and Sunday at 3 pm. Note that there will be no tours on Friday, November 27 or Saturday, November 28, because of the Thanks-giving break.

(3)       Art Study Center

The public is welcome to visit the museums’ Art Study Center. However, you need to show the tickets. The tickets’ details:

$ 10 Non-Harvard students   (18+)

Free Harvard faculty, students, and staff (plus one guest)

Discounted Admission

Boston and Cambridge libraries are among the dozens of public libraries in Massachusetts that have museum passes available for $6 admission to the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Each pass admits up to four people. Ask for passes at your local library! Please be prepared to show proof of Massachusetts residency (居住权) or library membership.

Transportation

Street parking is limited; MBTA public transportation recommended (Red Line to Harvard Square, or Commuter Rail to Porter Square.) No Cambridge resident restrictions on street parking on Sundays or holidays. On weekends, you can purchase a parking pass at the front desk to park in the University’s adjacent garage at 52 Oxford St. See the museum’s website for directions to reserve parking online on weekdays.

Do not lean on glass cases; they are fragile.

Personal photography is allowed; however, the use of flash and tripods is not permitted in the galleries. Commercial photography or video cameras are not permitted without written permission.

The Project Gallery works with local communities and modern artists responding to our collections. It is located to the left of the main entrance at York Art Gallery and you can apply for free entry during normal gallery opening hours.

Teenage Art School

June—September

Come and experience the creativity, hi—tech and exploration of traditional art techniques produced by Teenage Art School. This year's free exhibition is currently on display in the Project Gallery until late September. Our experimental five—day course for children between 14 and17 years runs yearly, studying different topics and approaches to help young people develop their skills as artists.

Bouts Artist in Residence

October—December

York Art Gallery is pleased to be working with a student artist from York St John's University to produce fine art visuals in response to Making a Masterpiece: Bouts and Beyond. Using the exhibition as a starting point for inspiration, our students will create their own art—work in the Project Gallery. See how artists make images and work on techniques in this developing studio and display space.

This exhibition has been developed as a funded partnership with The Bowes Museum and Bristol Museum.

JAMES Event

Date: Sunday, November 9th          Location: Luray

This event is hosted for girls 7-17 years of age. Adults are encouraged to attend with their children. Sessions will be offered in shotgun, air rifle, small bore rifle, and archery. Non-shooting sessions will also be offered. Lunch will be provided. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
