Formed in 2001, the China International Search and Rescue team (CISAR), 【小题1】 (bring) help and hope to those 【小题2】 lives are changed by a storm, a flood, an earthquake or any other natural disaster. It always gets the job done 【小题3】 (efficient).

The team went on its first international rescue missions in 2003 and won high praise for their 【小题4】 (brave) and skill. Since then, the CISAR has completed many missions. The list of people to whom help 【小题5】 (give) is long.

After a disaster, they get to save lives in the 【小题6】 (little) possible time. There is usually no electricity or water, and there may be diseases and accidents, 【小题7】 (put) them at risk. That means they have to be strong 【小题8】 both body and mind. Besides, rescue workers must have big hearts, too. It takes a lot of love and courage to risk one’s own life 【小题9】 (save) someone else’s. The members of the CISAR have plenty of both and are always ready to go 【小题10】 help is needed.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., a group of runners from different countries gather at a bar in Shanghai before 【小题1】 (set) out on their 5 ­kilometer run. But this is no ordinary run. These people 【小题2】 (arm) with rubbish bags. The members of this group don’t simply run for good health. They do it for the environment 【小题3】 well. 【小题4】 (call) “plogging”, this new fitness activity began in Sweden in 2016 and was introduced to Shanghai in 2018. By the summer of 2018, just a few months after Rubbish Running China was founded, 【小题5】 (it) WeChat group had grown to more than 400 runners. To make the activity more fun for both newcomers and regular ploggers, Rubbish Running China also 【小题6】 (frequent) organizes longer weekend runs in the suburban areas. “We want more people to hold small ‘plogging’ groups and have 【小题7】 responsibility to organize rubbish running activities in their own neighborhoods,” says Eisenring, 【小题8】 founded Rubbish Running China. “ ‘Plogging’ is a way 【小题9】 (know) the people and the city a bit more,” says Robbin Trebbe, one of the 【小题10】 (late) runners to join the group.

The government has awarded $5 million to three different local nonprofit organizations. The money will 【小题1】(distribute) over a four-year period and is aimed at helping approximately 1, 000 homeless people in the county of Arvada.

One agency, 【小题2】(base) in Woodbridge, is expected 【小题3】(receive) $1. 5 million. The agency director says that they will focus their resources on 【小题4】(educate) the homeless. “We will probably build another school-home with this money,” he said. “A school-home is exactly 【小题5】 it sounds like. It is a school and a home. We have already built four school-homes throughout the county. We get the homeless off the street, 【小题6】 we educate them so they don’t have to return to the street. We teach them how to be gardeners, painters, carpenters, bricklayers, electricians, and air-conditioning repairmen.”

“You wouldn’t believe 【小题7】 success that we have had. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, our office air-conditioning went out. My secretary called a repairman. To our surprise, the repairman 【小题8】(be) one of our first homeless students. He now owns his own air-conditioning business, plus two houses, two cars and a boat! He has a dozen employees. He’s doing better than I am. He fixed our air-conditioning 【小题9】 free. I think I might sign up for the air-conditioning class 【小题10】(I). ”
