Melbourne Girls' College is getting rid of 【小题1】 (it) bins and asking teachers and students to take their rubbish home to encourage them 【小题2】 (move) towards zero waste. Even the schools 20 recycling bins have been removed, because the college's plastic and glass recycling is now sent to landfill. Paper can still be recycled via the school.

As part of the campaign, volunteer students conduct【小题3】(day) non-compulsory food inspections in which children 【小题4】 (reward) for bringing “zero waste” lunch boxes. The rubbish 【小题5】 (take) home may still go to landfill via their home bins, but teacher Paula McIntosh says 【小题6】 new policy will help persuade families to buy fewer packaged items and reuse containers. Though some parents may not have the time or means to avoid food in single-use packaging, it's trying to get more people to avoid it.

She says the campaign of Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg recently【小题7】(inspire) the school, showing that the acts of one person can lead 【小题8】 enormous change.

Principal Karen Money says: “We talk a lot, as educators, about those serious 【小题9】(problem) the world faces, and 【小题10】 we don't start taking some action, then it's just empty.”

Last Saturday, our class visited the Museum of the Anti-Japanese War. The moment we went into the exhibition room, we were attracted by the pictures and descriptions about 【小题1】 war on the wall. Some took notes while others had a little discussion. We 【小题2】 (shock) at the cruelty of the war. Then we gathered in another room and listened to an old soldier 【小题3】 (tell) the stories about the war. Therefore, we had a better understanding of the history. We hope more people can treasure the peaceful life.

One of my best memories came from my experience when I gave a speech named“A Challenge in My Life” before the whole class at the age of 8! You can imagine【小题1】 terribly shy I was with so many eyes fixed upon me. I had no alternative but 【小题2】( prepare) for it, though. First of all, I was to draft the speech, which was just 【小题3】piece of cake for me, a good writer. But the hardest part 【小题4】(lie) in my oral presentation from my memory— for to read from the paper was not allowed. The real moment began when I stood on the platform ,my legs 【小题5】(tremble) and my mind blank. But my listeners were waiting patiently without any signs of rushing me. Otherwise, I would have withdrawn【小题6】 them. Gradually, I found myself back, delivering my speech with difficulty. After what seemed to be a hundred years, I found my audience applauding— I made 【小题7】! From then on, my fear of talking before an audience disappeared. 【小题8】(actual) with my confidence building up, I now turn out to be a great speaker. Looking back, I know the greatest【小题9】 (difficult) on our way to success is our fear. Overcome it 【小题10】 we will not be able to fulfil our ambitions.
