Most of you love watching movies. They can be funny, sad, imaginative, inspiring, and so much more! There are so many possibilities and so many great movies to watch!

The making of a movie usually begins with a script. 【小题1】 The producer is the person who is responsible for coordinating (协调) aspects of the film like budget and scheduling. The producer plans out how the project will be carried out and he usually starts by hiring a director!

【小题2】 The director will usually identify themes or feelings that he or she wants the movie to convey to its audience and will then assemble (聚集) all the other people who will be needed, such as costume­designers, make­up artists, special effects crew, stuntmen (特技表演者), cameramen, and, of course, actors!

Next, shooting begins! 【小题3】 Often a director will want to get several “takes” (versions) of a scene or moment and usually only a few minutes of the movie are finished in one day's work. 【小题4】 So once filming is completed, the director must then work with editors to piece them all together, deciding which takes to use and adding in any special effects or touch­ups.

The entire process from acquiring the script to editing the scenes generally takes months or even years! Once it's ready, the finished movie is then distributed to movie theatres. 【小题5】

Creating the storyboard

The first step is to write down the main ideas of the story. 【小题2】 Based on the storyboard, the art department creates the first draft for the characters, their clothing and emotions, and the design sets.

Making characters using 3D modelling

A special computer program is used to create 3D shapes of the characters, sets and props—this is called modelling. 【小题3】 Special equipment is used to record points on these shapes. This information is then sent to a software program which recreates the 3D shape.

Making them move

The layout crew (摄影构图组) decide how these characters should move and then the cartoonists take over. They use 3D software to create the movements of each character, the skeleton’s (骨架) movements, facial expressions and more, between key frames (帧) in the story.【小题4】

Dressing up for the show

The sets and props are “dressed” according to the designs laid out by the art department. The skin and hair for the characters, their costumes as well as special lighting effects such as shadows, shining reflections are also created.

Letting the show begin

【小题5】 The computers draw each frame one by one, with each frame slightly different from the previous one. Each frame takes 5-6 hours to create — imagine how much computing power and time it will take to create 24 frames per second of a 2-hour film!
